Pregnancy Time length I was wandering if first time moms carry longer Lilli is on her 64 day from the first breeding, can anyone give me any advice, her temp is at 98.6 and is has been going to her crate and sleeping in it for the past 2 days, Thanks Kristi |
All my femals have carried 62-64 days..... maybe nothing happened their first time? I would keep a good eye on her and if she dont have them soon or seems to have any trouble I would have a vet check her. |
She isnt showing any signs of distress she just has been sleeping alot.I have this feeling it might be tonight I hope so me and her are ready to get this over with:) |
Mine goes from 62 to 65 days . Venus will have her puppies around Christmas day . |
Gracie carried till day 64 both times. With a temp that low, I'd be watching her closely. I think it'll be tonight...best of luck! |
When do male yorkies eventually become "active", i'm only going to breed my dog once then get it neutered. |

Annabelle looked so uncomfortable the last few hours of her pregnancy, before she started labor, that I gave her a luke-warm bath. She loves the water to be deep enough that it is almost to the top of her back. I then blow dry her which she also likes. She relaxed enough that with-in an hour she was starting to push. I have heard that baths will help a women in labor relax making the process easier, so I tried it for Belle and it worked. Let us know when you have babies. |
Thanks for the info I might the bath she needs one anyways. I will post pics as soon as my granddoggies get her cant wait! Kristi |
Sorry cant spell tonight I am lacking sleep .LOL Kristi |
Annabelle did too, so I figured why not. Besides we all know that they might as well smell good at the start because they dont after. |

2 Attachment(s) She started at 8 pounds and then after all is said and done she was 12 pounds, Now she looks good and like she never has babies in her. We had 4, 2 boys and 2 girls. They are going to be 2 weeks old on saturday. I think that she went on the due date that I gave her, I think that she was 62 days in and then had the little ones. Quote:

Congrads they are so cute Lilli hasnt gained that much, Did she do ok was this here first litter? |
This is her 2nd whelp and things went smooth on this one. When we had the first one she lost all of the puppies. I did not want to breed her any more, becasue that was so hard on me and her. But I did and this is what we got. 4 health babies that are going great. Quote:

Well I have had a female whelp a week early and one sectioned a few days after her due date. For me temp isn't always accurate. I notice when I give mom her favorite food (canned chicken soup) she'll eat it and the vomit a half hour later..that usually tells me she's going into labor soon. Gross I know but it's a better indicator for me. Temp can be so off sometimes. She may not go into labor, I'd talk to your vet and ask how long you should wait? I had a female that never went into labor. So we did a progestrone test to see if her body was ready and then did the section. Good luck! Irene |

Hey Irene thanks for the info, I took her to the vet this morning and every thing looks great pups are fine and the temp thing has not worked for me neither they said if she hasnt whelped by monday then we need to come back, i have noticed lilli is not wanting to eat as much I have her on Chicken Soup and Nutro Natural hard and only soft in the morning and she will only go and get 1 or 2 hard peices and be done so I am hoping all goes well and I will keep everyone informed thanks for all the great info! Kristi |
What is the Chicken Soup that you do?? I have seen the others do other thing when it comes to soup. What and how do you use??? I take the chicken and put it in water and let that boil for about 1 hour, and then take off the chicken and put that and the let over broth in a bowl with the chicken. Then she gets puppy food (wet) and her food and then the soup. I mix that well and then heat it up tell a little warm and then she eats it all. Is this how you do it??? |
Sorry..not real chicken soup..it's food called "Chicken Soup for the Puppy Lovers Soul". |
