Hi all I need some advice on keeping a stud at home Hi I've been breeding for two years and we've always have females. We now have the opportunity to keep a male that is beautiful I guess I'm asking those who have unaltered dogs can females and males have peace in the house Thanka |
oh one stud with two females will be super happy, but your house probably wont... you will need a good supply of belly bands, a proven stud in new territory with two seasoned females, he is going to mark to town and back. so like I said a good supply of belly bands, a lot of Fizzion and a TON of patience.. :) hugs, |
I doubt you will have any peace unless you can keep the male far away from the females when they are in heat. Even then he may bark, whine and pace. |
We have peace and quiet....unless someone is in heat. |
LOL, same here, I just happen to have a girl in heat NOW, so is not peace and quiet in this house for the next 3 weeks..LOL hugs, |
I love my boys...until one of the girls goes into heat....and marking is always an issue.. otherwise, my girls rule the roost but he seems happy with it all! |
Nicole If a spot free house is important to you then I would think a long and hard. My house is definately spotted.. LOL Belly bands are a must! Breeding time, even if you are breeding is obnoxious. They want at the female all the time, not just for that tie. |

I have had some success with using CC Miracle Air - that does keep the musty smell down. If you have separate areas of the house you can keep the females apart from the males, that is very helpful. I also like the steam cleaner for the floors. I forgot if you said you will have only one stud or two? If two studs during heat, they will likely need to be separated as well from each other. A serious argument can happen in the blink of an eye..... |
