Help breeding
 
Hi you all, I have a female yorkie and she is in heat. I would like to breed her but first two days when i bring the male here he was crazy running trying to catch her and she didnt want him to mount her. and then two days later he came again but this time she was trying to get his attention and he didnt even look at her! What is wrong? He lost interest on her, but she is still in heat as her vulva is very swollen. What can I do?! :confused::confused::confused:

I hope you have a mentor because they could really help you with this and any other breeding questions you might have.

I also hope you obtained recommended health clearance for mama and papa.

How old is your yorkie and how much does she weigh?

You have gone from being a New Yorkie Mom, to a Yorkie rescuer and now a Yorkie breeder all within the last 7months. Please don't breed your pup. Get her spayed a.s.a.p. Your pup is too young, your not trained and you really have no business breeding at this time. I know this sounds harsh, its meant to be, its the truth.

Stick around and learn, read, learn some more and then you will know how to breed properly, or if you even should.

To really know what's going on with her, you need to do progesterone testing. I would call a good repro vet or maybe even your local vet is experienced enough to help with that. What day are you on? I'm assuming this is at least her 2nd heat or later? I'm assuming that you have had the appropriate testing done and have done your research?

I may be wrong but thought I read that a Yorkie should never be bred her first heat?

That is correct. A yorkie should not be bred until her 2nd heat and at least 18 months but I didn't see where it said this was the first heat?

I looked at her other posts and the pups age. That is why I asked.

I didn't breed my dog but she got pregnant when my brother brought a male Yorkie to play without knowing she was in heat. (He has a house key.) I had no idea what do afterward, heck, if I knew there was such thing as an abortion for dogs I would of done it. They are now 1 week old and I do not sleep, making sure they eat, moms doing her job, making sure mom is well fed, lactating, has enough calcium. After she gave birth she was skin and bones. I have to bottle feed them making sure they see the next day, I've cried to the vet hospital over the phone over 4 times in the past week, and I'm losing my hair with all the stress. So please, if you don't know what your doing, do not breed her. The whole time she was pregnant I was worried that she could of died giving birth cause she's only 5 pounds. Puppies are cute, but leave the breeding to the breeder and believe me, Mika is getting spayed as soon as the pups go to their new homes.
