My Lexi is due today! Hi, I have a quick question. My Lexi is due today, but she's showing no signs of labor. For the past week she's started acting a little funny. Like, she wants to be in my lap with me rubbing her belly or hiding under beds and the kitchen table. She's still eating normal and drinking a lot more than she used to. Last night she whinned all night long. She sleeps on her bed in the bathroom. I leave the door open so she can come and go whenever she wants. Last night she just laid there and whinned all night. Today she's playful (like normal) but she is kinda jumpy. What should I look for?she's not leaking or digging, But she has been cleaning herself a lot. Any info is greatly appreciated. |
When you did her xrays, how many pups is she having? You OK'd head/shoulder/pelvic ring ratios so you are certain she should not have any issue passing pups. You got the days counted correctly without a doubt? My mommas are not allowed to roam everywhere...they are actually crated the last two weeks and allowed out only with my under strict supervision, no other dogs around, and my eyes are on her every second. Some of them drop their milk prior to delivery, some dont. The majority have the typical temp drop within 24 hours of whelping, but I have two that do not. Some go off food 12 - 24 hours prior to whelping, and I have one that shows absolutely NONE of the "typical pre-whelping indicators". It depends strictly on the individual momma, and you just have to know your momma! If this is her first litter, fortunately you have the experience and know what you are doing, as she is going strictly on instinct, and they often need help. Keep us posted on your whelp and let us know how momma and babies are doing! |
Good luck keep us updated |
Best of luck to you..wishing her a fast and safe whelping.. hugs, |
Good luck. My girl always stopped eating as much and would be very restless looking for the perfect place. Keep us posted. And take no chances if you suspect anything call your vet. Look forward to pictures :) |
good luck looking forward to updates awww new babies |
Yaayy new babies soon! Good luck! |
She's having 3 pups. Everything was fine. Vet said if she hasn't had them by next week to bring her in. I put her in the crate last night so if she went into labor she wouldn't have them under my bed. I always close my bedroom door at night so the only place she could roam is in my bedroom or the bathroom. This morning before I went to work I let her out to use the potty and she got straight back in. My husband is home with her today. If she has them today I hope its after 3 so I can be with her. Will upload pics of mom and babies when she has them. Thanks for the help |
Did she have the pups yet? I'm over here excited for you!:D |

Good Grief, Gertie!!! Your vet missed THREE babies reading the xray???????????!!!!!!!! THAT would cause me concern!!! Thank goodness , hopefully, ALL were delivered, along with placentas, and the family is continuing to do well. |
Hey guys! Sorry haven't been on much. I see that my reply never posted. My Lexi is a proud mama of 6 very adorable babies. Yep! 6! 3 more than expected lol. I am completely in love with them. I'm keeping one and his name is gizmo. He's a little butterball! Love him. They are all doing wonderful and Lexi is a great mom. |
