Question about descended testicles?? You might remember awhile back I had placed my Trae up for sale to a loving forever pet home, because his testicles has not descended yet.. Well guess what I found last night? Two fully DESCENDED testicles!!!!! :D Trae will be 9 months old the 28th of this month.. I have never had a male take this long to descend his testicles.. Would any of you think this would be an issue since I am thinking about holding unto him for show now? In that litter I had three very small pups and Trae was one of them.. Any help would be greatly appreciated.. Thanks.. Melanie |
Was he a late bloomer or what? What would the issue be about? You're planning on keeping him for show and he's got his testicles. He's a beautiful boy. |

What a relief! I have not yet produced a male without his 'beans' but if I did and he didn't have them by 12 wks I would think they are never gonna drop..your testE-mony (get it? :D ) gives us all hope! Hugs, Irene |

He certainly is a beautiful baby, and so what if he is a late bloomer? After you show him a few times, and he keeps winning over the early bloomers, you can just be proud of what you have! I don't know enough about it to know if it is something that is passed on, but even if it is, if he is healthy and his offspring are heallthy and as beautiful as he is, that is what counts. Just be proud of what you have produced. Late or not, he is intact. |
Congratulations! I do alot of reading and one of the books I was reading said don't give up until they are a year old. I remember when you were trying to sell Trae I wondered about it but I only know what I've read through books and on here. So happy for you're good news. He is a beautiful dog. |
I just had this happen to me too! I bought a male from Hungary and had him shipped over to me this summer. He was born in November of last year and when I purchased him, I was very clear with the lady about wanting him for breeding. She sent him to me and the first thing I noticed is that he was lacking one of his testicles. One was decended, the other wasn't. I called the breeder up and asked her about this. She insisted that if she had anything feelings that he would not decend that she would have not sent him to me. She asked that I hold off on neutering him until he was at least 13 months old. Low and behold, at 11 months and 12 days of age...WHAMMO! There are now 2 grapes! hehehe :D |
This is not uncommon as you think. Testicles will drop down and descend again,(I had this once at a dog show. Homer had two one day and the next day only 1  ) until a year of age, then some males it can take up to 2 years of age for the sperm to be potent enough to breed. Don't get discouraged to fast... :p |
