A little tip for those of you expecting a litter.... MUST DO... this was shared in one of the big breeding groups I belong to.. I could be a life saver.. I gave it to the girls as soon as they were born.. "Benebac, given at birth and every day until strong. studies have shown that a lot of so called "fading puppies" actually are starving to death because they aren't born w/ sufficient normal intestinal flora. if they don't need it, it can't hurt. if they do, it's a life saver!!" |
Thank you so much for this advice. I just ordered some on ebay! I HOPE we get it before she whelps!!!!!!! Says by the 2nd. Cuttin it very very close. Ok I see they sell this at Petsmart. Might just have to take a drive to petsmart tomorrow!!!!!!! I have been researching Fading puppy and it sounds too awful!!! |

Great, I have so many good tips and notes from my breeding groups, but is so hard to get the time to sit and type all of them, LOL, i only go thru them when i am expecting or have a litter.., also another good tip is liver, I give my girls a liver paste with her kibble at least 2 times a week.. I buy it, boil it in a bit of water cut it and pass it thru the blender and refrigerate that paste, then I add about 2 teaspoons to her kibble twice a week.. same with cottage cheese. hugs, |

Breny , I will as soon as I get a chance to sit for a bit, I just got home from DMV, had to renew my license and I let my son with the pups, so now I have to cook him dinner to take with him..LOL, I am doing a load of pee pads and the list goes ON...LOL hugs.. |
Carmen..........is the bene bac still beneficial if started on day 2 or 3 of life. My local stores do not carry this. I got some coming from ebay but maybe won't be here until tues. Not sure we will make it thbat long. What do you think. |
I would think is ok, better late than never, and according to the breeding group is good at anytime. my Delilah had a pudding like stool this morning and I gave her a dose of benebac and her after dinner stool was perfect, I think she ate one too many placentas, she ate 3 , I usually only let them eat 2, but the last baby she decided to have her standing and she landed in my hands so i did all the ripping of the bag and rubbing with the towel and she ate the placenta very quick.:p |

Well I will definitely run out and get some asap! Have to wait until my daughter gets up so she can babysit Miss T while I run up the street to get some! Thanks for the tips! I so hope my bene bac gets here today. But think that is wishful thinking. |
Is there anything other than bene bac that you can use?????? Mine won't be here til wed........just looked at UPS tracking......I think we will have babies before then. Can you use the adult probiodics or powder form. I know this would be much harder to use.....but is it possible???? |
I asked in my group and they said that is ok to start even a week later , just give it to them when you get it, better late than not at all. it benefits the babies at any time, it also benefits mama after eating the placentas. I gave it to Delilah two days after having the babies. hugs, Carmen |
Well it is looking like we may be waiting until Wed to have pups anyway. LOL!! She ate a huge breakfast, but is a bit restless this morning and a bit cranky. She growled at one of my other dogs who was going to lay next to her in the dog bed by the computer. She NEVER does that she is the sweetest least aggressive dog in the bunch. 63 days today!!!!!!!! |

Yep!!!!!! Benebac should be here this morning! UPS shipping says the package is out for delivery! Whew!!! We had some contractions last night.......but they petered out!!! We also had a few bouts of diarrhea.....getting closer! LOL! Ate a nice big breakfast and is sleeping away. Bella had a few bouts of what the vet called 'false labor' I guess Miss T is taking after her mentor. LOL Bella went to 68 days her first litter......if Miss T goes to 68 days I may have heart failure. I was so nervous with 6 pups and a first litter that she may go too early......hahahaha!!! Shes proved me wrong! :) |

Carmen help me , my girls didn't not want to let them feed on her anymore .. well found out they have little teeths , so now I know why she was so upset w them... and carmen said it was time for them to eat on their own.. Yes, my girl is due any minute now!! She is taking her sweet time. She is due with 6 puppies, I am glad she has gone this long, so the little ones have time to grow as much as possible. I am getting a bit anxious though! My Bella had a litter 9 weeks ago friday. They are both 2 pounds 1 oz. One was 4 ozs at birth the other was 1 1/2 ozs. They will be going to their forever homes soon! Makes me sad. I have grown quite attached to this litter. My girls still nurse several times a day and mama happily lets them. :) Good luck with your babies!!!!!! Quote:
