Puppy passed away...what to do?!? So we bought a girl yorkie puppy from our breeder, we had her for 2 weeks then she passed away. The vet said it was a genetic defect. When that happened we were heart broken and devestated! We had fallin in love with her :'( as heartbroken as we were about her we had to look at it from a financial point of view, we lost a lot of money. So we called the breeder to tell him he said that he'd have another liter ready in a couple weeks. So whenever I call him it seems like he's giving me the run around because he says give me another 2 weeks cause their not ready. It's been like this for more then a month. Something similar happened to someone else when I read a review about him. He promised them that he would make it right but he never did,nhe ignored them. So we are worried that he will do the same to us. I have texts from the breeder promising he'll give us another one. I'm looking some advice what to do. Should I file a police report or what? |

If not the Sherriff I would find out if you have a "community police officer" you might want to talk to them, or local police....go to the station and see if they would be willing to. Also, do you have a lawyer? Have your lawyer call them and ask for a resolution so that courts aren't necessary. You have nothing more to lose at this point, IMHO. I am so sorry this happened to you, very very sad and to add the frustration from the breeder on top of it...uggghhhhh not good; however, if it is a good breeder he may be doing the right thing in keeping the pup till its ready to go, who is your breeder? Remember, a good breeder will not let their pups go before 12 weeks. Good luck and I hope you let us know how this works out...again, I'm sorry for your loss. |

How was it resolved with your friend? They got their puppy? There is a sheriff station down the street, I just wasn't sure what route to take. I think I'm going to give him this last week to deliver the puppy and if not I'm going to file a report. I had found him on puppyfind.com, his name is Oscar. We trust him just because we had got another yorkie from him before, so we're hoping that he wouldn't treat us badly... Thank you for your advice and thoughts, it is appreciated!! |

She got the yorkie for free? I'm glad she got her yorkie! I'll definitely try it after next week. Thank you for your help! |
What genetic defect was it? Who are the parents of new replacement pup? If from the same line why do you think you'd get a healthy pup this time? |

The vet didn't say because we went to a 24 hour emergency since it was after hours. He said if we wanted to find out which kind we would have to take it to the corner. It would be different parents this time. We got a yorkie from him before so we're hoping thr pup will be healthy this time. |
Coroner for a dog? Any vet can do a neo. Shocking a breeder wouldn't require it in their contract. Different parents same line? Or completely different line? |
If the breeder doesn't do genetic testing on there breeding dogs you could end up with another sick pup. |
I am so sorry you've lost your precious puppy. It's heartbreaking and then to be treated this way by the breeder is like pouring salt into a wound. I don't believe you have a criminal complaint and doubt the police would get involved. You do most likely have grounds for civil action, possibly through small claims court. You may want to contact the breeder and suggest to them you will be filing suit if they don't maintain their part of your agreement. |
Like on your other thread, asking whyfor your maledog lifts his leg to pee, since you still have your boy puppy from this breeder and wanted to breed him and the female that died, finding out why and the genetic issues with the line is imperative. |
CA has puppy lemon law (I'm assuming u're in Riverside, CA). It looks like the breeder is producing pups w/congenital issues...If he's not willing to acknowledge & test his breeding stock, I would not feel comfortable getting another puppy even tho it's from different breeders. |
