How exciting! I hope it works out for you! I bred Zoe about 3 weeks ago and she has been off her food for the last few days. Keeping my fingers crossed for both of us!

oh, Congrats to you and Zoe, my mentor saw Delilah to day and felt her tits and she thinks she is pregnant too.. so keeping our fingers and toes crossed for both of us too...

Carmen you never seem to amaze me. I wish I lived closer to you because I feel like we would click. You are a wonderful person and I wish you all the luck with this pregnancy.
My Grand daughter asked me the other day, Mom maw, if something happened to you what would happen to all the dogs and without thinking I said,,,,,,,I would send Sadie to Carmen.....Lol. If you get a surprise you will know I have passed on lol.

WOW!!! First let me offer my congrats to both you and Delilah she is adorable.

Now for the WOW part, I did not know AI was an option for dogs. I have so many questions if you are willing to answer (please)

1. How do you find a donor?
2. Do you screen the donors owner?
3. Is there some sort of insurance you can buy for let's say a not so honest donor owner?
4. How is the frozen "swimmers" shipped?

This is just amazing me to, sorry if I am being to intrusive.

Another reason I love Yorkie Talk, I still learn things every time I sign on.

I met lots of silky breeders thru the shows, so I bought the semen from the best stud I could afford..

Yes, and the stud, everything from championships to medical, you want to make sure he is up to the job, just like breeding in person.

if any I am not aware, but is certain trust when you meet show breeders, they are very proud of their lines and want the best for both lines..
4. How is the frozen "swimmers" shipped?
just like human ones.. I did not see it personally, the stud's vet collected the sample and overnight it to my vet. I opted for the fresh chilled option, which is a bit more expensive than the frozen option. the probability of pregnancy is better with the fresh chilled, at least I was told that by the repro vet.

This is just amazing me to, sorry if I am being to intrusive.

In humans it is shipped in a large cryovac container and then when ready for inseminations, slowly brought to room temperature.
When using a fresh sample, however it is kept warm (the only experience I have is with surrogacy and most women would place the vial between their breasts to keep it warm until it could be drawn up into the syringe and "deposited")

Glad you asked, I am learning too, I am new o AI and just as curious as how everything works, I love sharing what I learn. i am very happy with the whole process so far, is very interesting and looking forward to my puppies being born and be happy and healthy..
