I can't tell if she is pregnant ?
 

Hi all I am new at this and so is she my baby tied 6/9 and she
In her first 2 wks was eating a lot now so so and her nipps are
Swollen and all she wants me to do is rub her belly and she started to
Bark wen left alone ( New) but I took her to the vet and he said he could not
Tell if she was and I was like what ?? So how can I tell cuz she is
Active eats normal and its her first time. X-ray is very expensive!
Help ???

I am sorry but you need to have this baby xrayed, at least by day 56...you are going into this absolutely clueless and at the very least, you MUST know how many puppies she is carrying so you will know if she delivers them and the placentas all!!! And if you think xrays are expensive, just wait and see if she gets into an emergent situation at, say 2 am on a Sunday morning....you are looking at probably $1800.00 alone in c-section fees at the emergency clinic...that does not include ANY other thing done to save the momma or the babies....good luck with this....how old is this poor little lady and how much did she weigh before she got bred?

Sorry yourkiemom1 I said I was new at this it was not for u to get upset or think I would not do what I had to do for my baby I asked for help and if it was no trouble :) and my baby is 2yrs old and one mo and she was 2.70 lbs and it's with the same size and age dog and if any one can help and tell me were I can go get this X-ray done were I am not gonna go broke due to me being laid off please help in chicago thank u;)

I hope this post is not for real!!! Because if it is you should be ashamed of yourself breeding a little one so tiny. More than likely an xray will be the least of your expense because she probably won't be able to carry these pups. I cannot help you only your vet can but I will be praying for this little one.

I tried to delete my previous post because I posted while upset. I don't usually yell at posters and I am sorry for that but honestly please get this baby in to your vet. She is so tiny that her little life is in danger if she is not vetted. Please let us know what the vet says.

Start reading about general Yorkie care, its obvious you havent yet. Breeding is something in the least years away. NEVER breed a dog under 5 pounds, find a mentor or enjoy a pet. You are risking your dogs life it is that dramatic.

I sure hope this little one isn't pregnant, she is so tiny! If she is you had better be prepared for an emergency c-section because it is very likely she will need one due to her small size. My 7lb girl had a difficult delivery last summer and only one pup survived out of 3, that was enough for me, all my dogs are now spayed. Breeding yorkies is best left to the people that are prepared and know what they getting into before they breed. :(

well All I can tell the OP is that is a VERY HIGH chance of you loosing this girl during whelping. she is WAY too small to be bred. Get her to the VET and have her spay ASAP. I Know what I am talking about. her LIFE is litterary in your hands..

She is close to 6 weeks pregnant and the vet can't tell??? Get a more knowledgable vet because you are certainly going to need one. :(

WHY IN THE WORLD would you be breeding your female when you don't even have a JOB:eek: Nevermind that she's too tiny to be bred:mad: I sure hope you are not for real! If your vet can't tell if she's pregnant or not at this late stage, I'd suggest finding one that's not so dumb. Your tiny little girl is going to need an expert vet to get her through this with her life.

OMG......deep breath....You MUST do two things. FIRST: I SUSPECT YOU DID NOT TAKE THIS BABY TO A BOARD CERTIFIED VET BECAUSE IT COST $$$$...THERE IS NOT A VET ALIVE IN THE CONTINENTAL USA, THAT HAS GRADUATED FROM A "REAL" SCHOOL OF VET.MEDICINE, THAT CAN NOT TELL IF A <3# PUP IS PREGNANT AT 6 WEEKS GESTATION! If you did indeed see a vet and he told you he can not tell if that baby is pregnant, CHANGE VETS IMMEDIATELY!!! Second: You must have this baby spayed/aborted immediately. She is too tiny physically to carry a litter of puppies. She is too tiny to deliver a puppy. She will have to have a c-section. I am sorry, but I am stunned and amazed and in complete awe that you would ever have allowed this tiny dog to be bred. It grieves my soul that people will blindly stumble, completely uninformed, into breeding any animal, apparently with nothing more than fingers crossed and a rabbits foot for luck. It is so unfortunate FOR THE ANIMAL that there are people that think they can throw a male and female together, have babies, and sell those babies for BIG BUCKS (BECAUSE THEY ARE YORKIES), and it wont cost them a dime to do it!!! Clear profit!! SO UNTRUE AND MISGUIDED.....and who suffers for a humans greed and callousness??? the poor animal, the innocent one in all this. This little dog has no one to care for her, keep her safe, provide what she needs, but her human. She looks to her human, like a child, to protect her, to do what is best for HER....and you have fallen sooooooo short of that responsibility.
People want to know what can be done to stop puppy mills???? THIS is what needs to be stopped, AT THIS JUNCTURE!! Here is the problem at its inception!!! Rather than strangle and drive responsible small breeders out of business with constraints and restrictions and mounding license fees, FIGURE OUT A WAY TO STOP THIS! I am so sorry for the rant and rave, but this just makes me absolutely crazy....to think the "authorities" are trying to over regulate me to drive me out of business, and you have THIS kind of thing going on....and if the proposed bills cropping up all over the country, especially that one the Federal government is pushing now, succeed in passing, THIS IS WHAT YOU PET LOVERS WILL BE BUYING YOUR PETS FROM IN THE NEAR FUTURE!!!! THIS should drive every single person on this site, straight to the AKC.org site to sign the petition against the proposed federal bill!

This makes me so sad. No money for even an x ray; probably has not seen a Vet; and under 3 lbs.

OP, you are not going to make money on this endeavor and you say you don't have enough to take even basic care of your little girl.

I feel sad for her ~ that you purposely bred her under these conditions.

Already they extended the date, and issued a FAQ sheet that purported to answer some of the overwhelmingly similiar comments made by many posters on the first go around.

I hope that you made a typo error on that weight! If not your girl is in a world of trouble, and so are you. It matters little that the "male" is the same weight. It is likely that you have done NO research into the pedigrees, and understanding what size puppies your gal will throw. The female controls the size of the puppies; and do not make the mistake of thinking that just because she is tiney she will whelp tiny puppies!

If you actually had a vet that told you he could not tell you if she was pregnant, quite simply you need a NEW VET.

You have had at least three experienced(very) toy breeders tell you to get an emergency spay. PLEASE Listen to them. You stand a better than 50/50 chance of losing your girl. Either through some sort of whelping mishap, or because you have mentioned no MENTOR, you will not be able to tell early warning signs of something going off the rail.

You quite simply do NOT breed a female under 5lbs, for a very basic starter. I am aghast that your vet told you she would do fine having a litter!

Breeding is a very costly endeavour, and the ones who pay the ultimate cost are the females; and quite often with their life.

I know these comments must seem harsh to you, better harsh now, and maybe you will move heaven n earth to have your gal spayed, so YOU and it is only YOU, that can save her LIFE.

Well given your bad English, go ahead and complain all you want! As I said in a previous post, your vet is an idiot, if he looked at a~ 2lb female, with a clueless and novice breeder, and said, it is Okay for her to whelp a litter. Given the right equipment any sad sack of a dog can mate; the question is SHOULD THEY BE BRED!!

Yes I have a dog, in fact more than one dog; and yes I am a breeder. I am a breeder, who prepares for all that breeding entails. Over 10 yrs of studying, assisting in whelping, showing and training my dogs. I've done all the health tests prior to breeding. I search, scruntinize, and spend buckets of time never mind money, to find the right stud for my gal.

So what you lost your job; prior to "planning" if indeed you did plan; on breeding your gal, you should have had at least 4-$5K set aside in a savings account, to tide you over, should there be any emergencies. And that is with a bitch that is the proper weight and had all health checks done. Not to mention the puppy care, shots, interviewing, and of course the HEALTH GUARANTEE you will offer prospective buyers.

You had no business breeding this gal, without the funds set aside to care for her. Did you have the "right", sadly yes, any idiot can breed a bitch. And it is the dog that suffers.

PLEASE name the vet who said this as it is well know NO vet would EVER recomend or take part other than provide after care in the breeding of any dog UNDER 5 pounds.

Some breeders reputable have bre 4 pound dogs abd their vets have reemed them, so I fail to see any truth in your statement.

this will go against the grain (sort of) for some but...my dog is 4 weeks preg 9lb expecting 5 pups she is 2 years old and i could tell from 2 weeks....
the milk bar gets a little bigger. right now she sleeps loads and is slightly off her food.
2lb is a bit small so perhaps be ready for c section if she is past 28 days then a vet can scan. right now at 32 days i can feel pups when i put my fingers lightly on her belly.
