Shot Record question I was wondering if any of you know where you can go download and print a new shot record. Some of my puppies will be leaving soon and a friend of mine has been the one to give them their shots. I am looking for something to record the shots on so the new owners will have a record of them. Any help is appriciated. Thanks, Shelly P. |
My vet just gives them to me. He does their shots, so they all have them (the records). I give the older dogs shots myself, but the ones I sell, I take to the vet so there's a record of it. A lot of owners want proof that the pups have had the shots I say they've had. Guess it's coming down to making sure it's been done as opposed to believing the breeder. Actually, I think it's a good thing. Any I have bought, I question whether the shots have been given or not. Not that I don't believe people, I'd just rather be safe than sorry!! Suz |
When i purchased my yorkie the owner game me an index card with the date of the shots and the lable off the continer that was taped next to the date. I thought this was a great idea and that is how i do my yorkies shots now. judy |
Mine did the same ad when I took her to my vet she said they use the same type vaccine. |

the vet has puppy care folders that will allow you to post dates of any care given to the puppy I pass this folder on to each new adoptee. I give my own shots the shot itself has a label I peel it off so I have the lot number if there was to be any reaction (which has yet to happen) and I paste this label into the shot record area with date given. |
Didn't any of these breeders have theses pups vet checked! My vet. gives me shot records for each puppy! I write down all the other thing, like worming myself. lily |
If you want a pet health record you can fill out yourself microsoft templates has one http://office.microsoft.com/en-ca/default.aspx |
Another great source... I signed up for the breeders program "Royal Canin" They send you a record packet along with 1lbs bags of either baby puppy or puppy up to 5 litters a year. I use that record packet and also enclose my vets business card. It makes a very nice puppy pack for the new adoptees. |
My 10 week old puppies have been vet checked three times, once day after birth, once @ 6 weeks, and once @ 10 weeks(after shots). When I took them in at 6 weeks for shots the vet wanted to wait until they were 8 weeks old to give them their shots since they were so small. Since I had already spent alot on vet visits and it was gonna be another 360.00 for the shots my mentor and I descided to do their shots ourself. She is a breeder and works @ my vets office part-time. We used the same kind that my vet uses.Thats why I want to get a record. Shelly P. |
Not all vets will accept the vaccination forms that are NOT signed by a vet. I also give my puppies their vaccines and complete the forms. I also give the buyer a release to take to their vet so my vet will release records. I read on one of the forums recently that the vet gave the shots a second time and said it would not hurt the puppy. Horse-hockey! It could have been fatal.. Buyers ask the breeder to have their vet sign the form when they have their last exam before they leave the breeder and come to you..Better safe than sorry... |

That is what I was saying...have the vet that we/you/whoever sign the vacc record so the puppies do not have a chance of being re-vaccinated when they are taken to the new vet for the required exam within 48-72 hours of transfer. On one of the forums, the new owner took the puppy to the vet and the vet did not take the shot recodr and gave the puppy another shot and said it wouldn't hurt him anyway. That is a huge concern. That is why I was posting about this.. |
