Has anyone ever heard of Misty Irwin, from TN? Just wondering if anyone has ever heard of a breeder named Misty Irwin, in Norris, TN? My little rescued Yorkie, Bear, was originally pruchased form her. His papers say that he is CKC registered and his Sire is Whispering Pines, Mr. Romeo, and his Dam is Whispering Pines, Tiny Venus. When I called Misty to tell her that I had Bear, and to ask a few questions about his adoption/shot records (assuming she had some record of who adopted him), and if she could email me pictures of his parents, she asked me what his birthdate was and what his parents names were. I had already told her he was 5 months old. Shouldn't she know this? She said that he'd had his first set of shots and 3 wormings before leaving her. She told me that she only had a few litters a year. I again asked her if she could send me pictures of his parents and she said she was really busy. After asking a few different times, she finally asked me to txt her my email address and she would send me pics of the father. Wouldn't she have the mother too? I sent my email to her # but got a reply back that it was an invalid #?? I called her today to ask her if the parents ears were up or down. She told me taht both were up and that she was working and couldn't talk. She didn't say "I'm working but you can call me or I will call you at a better time". she just acts bothered by my questions. Wouldn't a reputable breeder be willing to talk to someone who has rescued one of their pups and be happy to answer any question? I certainly WOULD NOT RECOMMEND Misty Irwin as a breeder for Yorkies!!! |
she adopts out as early as 8 weeks She also told me that she adopts them out at 8 wks if they are eating on their own. :( She acted like his litter was sold a long time ago. It couldn't have been much more than 3 months. He was born on 7/30/11. |
her phone # is (865)494-4404 |

Maybe it's a sign that she really doesn't care for the puppies. If this helps, we care! :) I'm sure he's happy and healthy in his new home. |

865-740-2325. I sent her a txt asking her to email me photos of Bear's parents. I hope she does. |
Steph she is probably a BYB or worse a puppy mill. She couldn't have checked out where Bear was going to begin with or she would have never sold him to such a young girl:( I am so glad he has you for his mommy now. |

Thanks for caring! :) I just wish I could see pics of his parents. |

I recently bought a yorkie off her and have questions I bought my yorkie from her about 2 months ago, its hair is growing oddly and not very fast, her CKC papers says she is purebred but im not for sure, i was wondering if your yorkies hair also grew differently? |
Just like people dogs hair grows differently in each dog in every breed....however your pups issue may be from poor quality breeding. If you can post a picture? |

Looks like I'm resurrecting a dead post, but.... I bought 2 yorkies from Misty Irwin. The first one is now 7.5 years old, is quite healthy and weighs 6.4 lbs. She is mostly blonde with some dark color at the base of her back hair. The second puppy I bought will be 4 in September. She is healthy as a horse, but weighs 13 lbs and is still colored just like a puppy, right down to the white spot on her chest. Larger and oddly colored yorkies are not terribly uncommon. I have another yorkie that I got from a friend that weighs 11 lbs, although her coloring is correct, she is just big for a yorkie. Remember that we are buying pets, and I refuse to buy from AKC breeders that destroy puppies that are not "up to standard." Having said all of that, Misty does not meet you when you get a puppy from her, you will meet her husband or a friend. I have a general idea of where she lives and it is in a very nice area. I have spoken with Misty on a couple of occasions about health questions for one of my puppies which we thought had a liver shunt - she did not. Misty was adamant that none of her dogs had ever had that and quickly offered to refund me or replace the puppy - I chose to keep the dog, she now weighs 13 lbs! haha! I'm not sure if she's just a private person or what, but I don't think she runs a puppy mill as I live close to her and I hardly ever see her listing puppies for sale. Anyway, that's my experience with her. |

I don't fully agree that you should only purchase from AKC breeders. There are issues with AKC that I will never be ok with. You have some very valid points, but those things aren't always true. I do not agree with puppy mills or irresponsible breeders, please don't think that's what I'm trying to say. |
