Chocolate coat Sort of breeding related? This isn't breeding related but more quality of coat which I figured breeders have seen a variety of coats (posted in grooming as well). So here's my question: I have a yorkie (well I've had quite a few). I have seen the different textures of coats (meaning, cotton, silk, combination, tanglie, fluffy, etc etc) I've seen coats change colors from dark to light ... but I've never seen dark to light to dark again. Is it possible to have a coat start off dark (black or chocolate), turn light (blue, steel, grey, blonde etc) and then turn dark again (black or chocolate)? Yup I've got a chocolate, Koda. He has got very human hair-like like toddlers hair (you know that silky soft when brushed, but after taking a nap ... WOAH baby look at that mess LOL) quite easy to manage compared to my Biro's fluffy thick plush coat. Happy Holidays everyone. |
I have seen light grow darker in several different occasions, the very obvious one is when a mommy has a litter, she goes lighter and after she recovers her hair starts to change to darker again. I also have seen the change when we changed foods, but not every yorkie we had at the time changed... only 2... they went lighter we changed back to the old food they got darker again . XOXO |
My girl is dark almost black and tan. She never changed color much at all and her pups are now dark grown too. She got the gene from her mom, she has it and passed it to her pups. She and her offspring all still look like pupppies adorable!! |
