question about spay/neuter contract. Please respond as soon as possible I am supposed to be getting a puppy this weekend and the contract states that the AKC papers will be provided upon proof of spay/neuter. I only want a pet, so I am definitely gonna spay/neuter my puppy. My question is: Is the contract all that is provided at the time of the adoption that would ensure I am actually getting a purebred puppy? The pups I have currently did not have a spay/neuter contract,(although I did get them both 'fixed'), so I am not familiar with contracts. I have read everything over and over on this contract and this is the only thing I'm not sure about. Please advise. Thanks! |

It is customary for breeders to send you the papers after you spay/neuter if the dog is sold as pet quality. There should also be a health guarantee. My breeder puts in her contract that she should be notified if something happens and you can no longer keep the dog. |
I have always received the AKC papers at the time I received my puppy. The breeder choses whether they are limited or not. |
Joey's breeder did something like this. I was given a 5 generation pedigree, but she wanted proof of the neuter before she gave me the paperwork to register him. He too is on limited registration, and I'm so glad that good breeders are insisting on that, there are too many oops pregnancies and with males, they are more likely to run away if they aren't neutered. |

Thank you for clarifying as I was beginning to be nervous about getting papers. She is providing papers after the fact, which is ok. Just wanted to make sure this is how it's done. And, there is a 1 yr health guarantee in the contract as well. When I go to get the pup, are you saying I should ask to see the pedigree? And, at this point, the contract is sufficient in knowing I am getting a purebred and papers later? |

morgans breeder sell her pups with Limited registration which is that if I would breed Morgan his puppies could not get registered// I had him neutered so its no big deal to me// I just wanted a healthy puppy and he is |
I have spoken with the breeder again and she has assured me that I will get the papers. I will be picking up my puppy tomorrow. I really do believe she can be trusted, but because I have never adopted a pup on a contract, I didn't know what the 'norm' is. I'm excited and can't wait! |
