OMG, I am so FURIOUS with Myself.... As many of you know , Chanel had a litter from her last season 6 months ago, well her Daughter came into season in October and pulled Chanel into season too.. which it was ok with me,since I was not planing on mating her this time around, I never mate my girls back to back...:cry:well according to my notes today is day 26 so I decided to give the pack a very needed bath, I gave the girls a bath first since they need more time, I dried them replace their undies, JUST IN CASE, and proceded to give Harry boy his bath, everything went fine until I finished Relay's bath and open the door to the hall, HARRY and Chanel were in a tie,:eek::eek: RIGHT THRU HER DIAPER HOLE... they had NEVER mated without my help, Harry boy is smaller than Chanel and she is TALLER, he had always needed my help, WELL NOT this time, he DID it all by himself... MY hopes are that she is NOT pregnant but I am an experience breeder and I KNOW better.., so NO WINTER VACATIONS for me, for a long time I been planing this vacation that NOW is NOT going to happen, because I will not leave my girl. she is my main breeding Bitch so a spay is NOT even consider, thank you for reading my novel of the day..I am SO MAD at myself..usually when I plan a breeding I have a waiting list way before the mating happens, RIGHT now I have Nobody I have to start from zero.... I Feel like such a BAD Mommie and worse I feel like a bad breeder.. ok, let me go and cry my eyes out now, so I can get a grip on this in case she is pregnant... deep breath, thanks for reading, Carmen |
Most likely the breeding will not take but you will still need to treat her like she is pregnant just in case. From my experience it seems that some females will except a male past the normal 21 days, especially those females that have had pups before. |
Don't beat yourself up over something that is done. How could you have even known that they would be so determined. At least you saw what happened and won't be surprised by a pregnancy... |
You're not a bad Mommie or a bad breeder. Sometimes things just happen that we have no control over. |
I’m no breeder, but a couple of things I’ve learned from reading the breeding forum are diapers and bellybands are worthless if you are trying to prevent pregnancy. Also, dogs might need help the first time or so, but after that many shy maidens turn into hussies! Can’t always blame the male! No sense blaming yourself either, but try to learn from every mistake. Best of luck! |
You're not a bad mom or breeder as well. Boys can't help themselves. Obviously. lol Anyways, don't beat yourself up over it. It's out of your control now and as someone said before, at least you won't be surprised if it does happen. Maybe the pregnancy won't even happen, then you just worked yourself up over nothing. Just think positive. |

I have to say I only use diapers to protect the carpet, or we are out in public. The protection comes from separation for us; crates in different rooms for night time sleeping, when we are relaxing in the garden room we have either the boys crated and she is free, or she is crated and the boys are free. Even still accidents do happen! We had Miss escape artist crated upstairs, with bungee cords as an added protector. The boys were downstairs in our bedroom, Razz was crated Magic free. I get up in the middle of the night, and who greets me beside my bed by Little Miss escape artist! Suffering succotash!. Thank goodness she wasn't pregnant! How-ever that Miss is one pure "bitch", the more the boys whine after her, the nastier she gets. I mean really really nasty. I was very lucky, that Magic didn't have holes in his body, which he would have if he had pressed her. A spay of course is in her near term future! To the OP: fingers crossed for you, you might get lucky. I do agree with Nancy I'd never trust bellybands or diapers to prevent mating. |
thank you everyone, oh believe me I KNOW the diapers don't work, they were kept appart Harry boy in my room and the girls in the second floor for the past 26 days, I thought the DANGER zone was clear, and I decided to give them a much needed bath. the panties were on to make sure in case she had any lingering hormone smell that Harry boy's nose was safe..usually she is pretty mean to him when she is done and he wants to smell anyways..LOL oh well, I still feel pretty awful about the whole thing.. |
Aww please do not beat yourself up. If she is pregnant I know she is in the best hands. I pray that all turns out well for you. |
thank you ladies, I am feeling a bit better this morning, but still very mad at myself.. hugs, Carmen in nj |
You want me to come to NJ and set you straight lol. It will all be ok. |
Lol !!! What they didnt get the memo that mom was going on vacation !!! Maybe it won't take !!! Good Luck !!! bark@ulater!!!! manina, mileyandmax |
Day 26 is quite late in a cycle; I had a male get to a female once on day 23 or 24....an unplanned tie (see, so it can happen to anyone). It was, as expected, much to late in the cycle and there was no pregnancy. I'll bet it will be the same with Chanel. I agree that you will need to treat this as if she is/could be pregnant until you know for sure, but going by your past experiences with her other pregnancies, you probably have a pretty good idea of when her fertile time is. And unless that time is late in her cycle, you can put your mind at least a little more at ease knowing there is a better chance that she is not PG. Good luck to both of you......whatever happens. |
Hopefully it will be NO babies, but until I can be sure I will do as if she was pregnant, by the early signs I should know hopefully sooner than later... right now is nothing I can do.. hubby said I am mad because Harry boy did it without my help..LOL |
Lol !! your hubby is not to far fr the truth lol !!!!! Quote:
