AKC vs. ACA Does anyone know anything about ACA vs. AKC pups. I looked into the ACA and was told by my vet it was just as good as AKC, that the AKC is getting very, very strick, but that the ACA had high standards also, just like the AKC. Would welcome anyones thoughts on this! |
Really Think Before You Change Any Status Of Akc To Aca GOOD MORNING TO ALL - AFTER I HAD BOUGHT MY LITTLE AKC YORKIE PISMO FROM NORTH CAROLINA WE BOUGHT ANOTHER AKC LIL' BIT AND THAT SAME QUESTION CAME TO ME BECAUSE THAT IS WHEN I ACTUALLY SAW ACA. OF COURSE IT CONFUSED ME TOO SO I CALLED MY BREEDER IN NORTH CAROLINA...HE BREEDS YORKIES AND MALTESE AND HAS BEEN IN BUSINESS A LONG TIME. THIS WAS HIS ANSWER WHEN I ASKED THE SAME THING...NOW..YOU DON'T HAVE TO TAKE IT TO HEART IF YOU DON'T WANT TOO BUT I TRUST HIM. THIS IS WHAT HE SAID AND I HOPE IT HELPS YOU...IF YOU HAVE ANY OTHER QUESTIONS OR COMMENTS TO THIS PLEASE FEEL FREE TO EMAIL ME... MR. ALLEN SAID THIS: HE FELT THAT AKC WAS THE BETTER DEAL..HE SAID THIS IS PRETTY NEW...ABOUT THE SAME BUT MORE PEOPLE HAVE AKC DOGS AND PUPPIES AND UNDERSTAND AKC BETTER AND THEY HAVE BEEN IN BUSINESS A LONG TIME. HE ALSO SAID WHICH I DIDN'T CHECK INTO THAT IF A DOG IS AKC AND YOU WANT TO CHANGE IT TO ACA OR CKU TO MATCH MAYBE A DOG YOU ARE BREEDING WITH AND VICA VERSA ACA OR CKU TO AKC. "NOW" I HAVEN'T CHECK INTO THIS PART...SO IF YOU WANT TO CHECK INTO IT YOU CAN...AND...MAYBE POST THE ANSWER FOR EVERYONE TO SEE. **I PERSONALLY AM NOW BREEDING AND I PLAN TO "ALWAYS" KEEP MY DOGS AND PUPPIES AKC...I FIND THEY ARE VERY KNOWLEDGABLE, HELPFUL AND VERY EASY TO WORK WITH. IN FACT WHEN MY LIL' BIT HAD PUPPIES LAST TIME...RIGHT AFTER SHE HAD THEM AND I KNEW HOW MANY AND SEX I GOT RIGHT ON TO THE WEB SITE FOR AKC AND REGISTERED THE LITTER AND RECEIVED MY PACKET FROM THEM TO BE ABLE TO GET IT READY AHEAD OF TIME BEFORE I SOLD MY PUPS. ANYWAY...THAT IS MY OPINION BUT REMEMBER THAT IS "MY" OPINION...OTHERS MIGHT THINK DIFFERENT...AND I SURE "ALSO" WOULD LIKE TO KNOW THAT THEY THINK. HOPE THIS HELPS... I have both akc and aca..IMO...I really find no difference..I don't show my dogs so the akc mean little to me as far as registrations go. I look for health, and flaws when choosing a pup or dog. Akc does not mean you are getting a better dog ..the only way to insure that is to be careful when choosing a breeder. I did registration on my new pup on the aca website and had my paper back in 3 days. They seem to have a very helpful website. I know other will disagree on this. Some are stuck on the word AKC as meaning better, But, I don't find it to be the case with my dogs. My aca dogs seem to be a little better breed the the akc dog I have. SORRY.. I hope I didn't ruffle any Feathers out there...Sherry |

registration I believe the dog registration world is getting to be or has been like the horse bussiness. we have walking horses and in order to be reg. walking they need to be blood typed as do akc male dogs for breeding purposes. so there is numerous associations for the horse registration you would not belive that do not cost or do not need blood typing so that the person could have some kind of identification with there breed. so i belive that is what the dog side of it is doing. there is numerous registrations out there. the papers do not make the horse as do dog papers do not make the dog. of course having a set of papers helps. i also raise boer goats. and let me tell you some of there papers are worth more then the goat. go figure. PepperAnn is (and i am sure lots others) is AKC and CkC. so I even thought of going all the way and doing all the other dog reg. places too. why not that would be like My dog is Quidrupled registered... not sure why i would need such registrations, but which Club is the oldest that would show the way back ancestors that all these other clubs need to copy off or as they say Recognized???hmmmmm |
Please don't flame me for this -- it is just an honest statement of my experience and attitude and the attitudes of my circle of friends in the dog world. Most kennels who can't pass the AKC standards go to alternate registries such as the ACA. In my circle of friends, ACA spells puppymill. Jen |

Again...thank you for not including ALL breeders in this category...I do agree, there are some that abuse the privledge (sp?). |
ACA is a very good organization as far as I read. I had never heard of it. But my husbands friend wanted to breed to my yorkie stud, I dont usually bred him out. I did it for a favor only but was concerned the puppies may not be able to be registered. If I understand correctly ACA is interchangable, or registerable, thru AKC. They are a research facility. Researching health in lines of dogs, all breeds. Their puppy had been bought from a pet store. |
"MISQUOTE" Im so sorry.......I meant to say ACA is interchangable with AKC the opposite of what I said! AKC DOES NOT accept ACA registration. |
Key point...... My Hubby's friend's family are the nicest....and professionals!! ..............but when it comes to dogs....they just period dont know. They didnt have dogs as children.....they werent allowed. They were messy. When they bought their puppy from a pet store they didnt know the background...they didnt know much of anything except we wnt that puppy right there. Now I cant speak for all. But in my best personal opinion and the welfare of all animals, yorkies to all alike. Support only or ban ONLY what you have full knowledge of .......... |
