pregnant yorkie? My hisbands grandmother said she was going to give me a puppy out of her next litter. I saw her female today, and she doesnt really look pregnant. She about 56 days, her nipples are larger, and just a little thicker than when I saw her before she was pregnant. Does this sound right? |

My Bella was pregnant with 3 pups and she never had a big round belly. She just looked thicker. You couldent notice at all just by looking at her. Even our vet said that sheīd only have 2 pups because thatīs all he felt and because he only saw 2 heartbeats on the ultrasound..but nope, there were 3 in there, and acording to my vet, they were nice big girls. This is her on day 50 something, about 10 days before giving birth: http://i583.photobucket.com/albums/s...psa7c5cc53.jpg We went to a vet whilst my regular vet was away and he also told us to just "wait it out", because we had no idea weather she was pregnant or not, but in the end we had an ultrasound done because the whelping is something you really want to be prepared for. Itīs not something you can just sit around and wait for..there are things to prepare, things you need, and your girl should be on a good healthy diet right now too.A visit to the vet would be advised right now ;) Itīll remove all shadow of doubt and youīll be more prepared. |
Still don't know Thank you I'll make an X-ray appt today. How much did Bella weight pre pregnancy weight. Sometimes I think I feel something and then I think I don't she's not a big dog so you would think I would see something. |
Also could you tell me about the calcium cause to really get here to eat good I have to put a teaspoon of cottage cheese in her food. |

As for her calcium intake, we started feeding her royal canin starter kibble (for puppys and pregnant females) when she was about -5 weeks into her pregnancy. We also gave her a good scoop of cottage cheese with that and Iīd also make her what we call (here in Spain), a miracle milkshake.Itīs what we use for calcium and to prevent hypoglycemia in pregnant toy breeds. Itīs an egg yolk, half a glass of luke warm skimmed milk and half a teaspoon of honey. We gave this to her once a day every other day. You do have to stop her calcium intake about a week before she is due to have her pups, because a high calcium intake at the end of pregnancy can cause eclampsia..and that can be fatal. So 7 to 10 days before she is due, take her off of the puppy food and donīt give her any more calcium supplimentes (cheese, milk etc etc). Once she has her pups, you go right back to the puppy kibble (royal canin starter) and you can start with the miracle milkshakes and the cottage cheese again. Now, Bella is 2 weeks post partum, sheīs back down to 5lbs, and we have been giving her the milkshakes and cheese regularly. |
I think I have most everything. I had a Pekingese who had twelve puppies two times and it was no problem but Tinkerbell is a lot different iam extremely nervous! |
