help she pregnant !!!! Hi I have a 2yr old female Yorkie. a friend of mine was watching my Yorkie because I had to go out of town. my friend has a male that has not been fix, I did not know my dog was in heat, they ended up locking and my Yorkie is now pregnant. I don't know what to do . can anyone help me or tell me where to go to get help? this is her first litter. Thank you I never breed before I don't know what to do. |
How long ago was she bred? Has a vet confirmed she is pregnant? How much does your female weigh? If this breeding took place recently it is not to late to get her spayed. There are many threads in the breeders section on whelping. You can browse through the thread and learn much information. If she is going to have puppies you need to really start reading and educating yourself on how to care for the pregnant bitch, whelping, care for the nursing bitch and how to care for the pups. I hope everything turns out okay for you and the momma. |
first of all, can your friend tell you aprox date of when the tie happen? take her to the Vet, even tho after 32 days of first tie is very hard to tell even for a vet, If is too late and you need to keep the pregnancy, start reading and reading and preparing, my girl just had her second litter maybe you can find a good breeder that can mentor you thru this.. but we try to be here and help.. let me know what you decide, hopefully is early and a quick spaying can be done and save you and your girl a lot of uncertanty. hugs, Carmen in nj |
it happen may 11th , I know she is pregnant her bell is getting so big and her nipple are out. her doctor's appointment is the 27 th . she will be having xrays also. I would love if someone can walk me though this. is will be her first litter. I have no clue what to do. what are some importian things I need to know and what are somethings I need to have on hand when she goes in to labor. |

ok, according to my calendar she is about 41 days pregnant, that is Way beyond the early stages, if she is pregnant for real and not having a fake pregnancy she is due about July 12th. here's some Very good sites to read and learn..ask your vet to schedule another x ray for day 58 to determine if her pelvis is big enogh for the puppies to pass and how many puppies you are expecting before day 58 the babies are not calcified enogh to count them or see them clearly. http://debbiejensen.com/ you also need to read here and get a whelping box and all necesities ready SOON... is a lot of information here, HTH, Carmen in nj |

If i may just add one thing: make sure you have arrangements to have the vet "on call" from day 56 of her pregnancy as anything could happen from that day on and make sure you have all prepared to face a C-section if it is needed, have the vet arrangements made, and be financially prepared too, plan ahead and also consider a plan "B" if it happens to be a C-section call in the middle of the night and your regular vet can not assist you on these off hours. vet costs vary greatly depending on area, relationship with the vet and other factors. Here in my state it vary from 1300.00 to 3500.00 ... 4000.00 depending on the situation. A planned c-section can be cheaper but comes with a greater risk to be done too soon. An emergency middle of the night c-section with few complications goes towards the higher range i mentioned. A very complicated situation can escalate . I have heard of 500.00 dollars emergency c-section in other states but that is something i was told. XOXO |

Just to 2nd what Carmen said! No pre-whelp calcium! Although, If your girl won't stay in a box- if she is nervous or scared, it may be an idea to just put her on a pile of towels and sit beside her (in a warm very draft free room)... My missy uses a basket, but Kuki kept climbing out and sitting on me, so I just sat on the bed with her on towels and whelped them there- with a basket to put the pups in during another birth. And I could also put a table up right beside me and it was the perfect height- for supplies, spare towels for puppies and mommas treats etc. without having them on something on the floor- I'd likely knock them over! It's really just whatever you think your little girl will be more comfy with, and no one knows her better than her mommy!! Have you been able to find someone to give you a hand? If you know your vet well and have a good relationship, ask them; when my vet knows one of my girls is due, they are ready and waiting for my arrival if I phone and say I'm bringing her in- even if for oxytocin or a scan- it's not only a c-section that you may need your vet for remember. |
I don't know the vet I just moved to this town. I always brought her to petco for her shots. I have been looking to see if I can get someone to help me but no luck. I emailed the breeder where I got sophie but she has not wrote me back yet. is the any group that help out with this. . I wish she was not pregnant this is very hard and scary. I live in mass. |
