baffled? I am a small novelty breeder and this is the first time that this has happened with one of my bitches. This will be her third and last litter for she has reached 5. I bred her for the first tie took place on April 24th then everyother day for that week. I went on holiday May 7th and 8th and my sitter told me that my male mounted my female. I just believed that Prince was just showing interest in her and nothing happened. But yesterday the 18th of May and this AM they had a tie....UGGG! i have never experienced this prior. Any opionions here??? I have spoken to several friends and they either have not had a situation like this. |
It is possible for a male to breed with a female not in season...due to an enlarged vulva, and the bitch may accept, especially if they have been bred in the past...personally I would want a vet check and a smear done to see if she has an infection of some sort. Still trying to figure out the term..."novelty breeder"...is that a new breed? |

My guess is 'novelty breeder' is the equivalent to 'hobby breeder' --- common terminology of one's locale most likely. POE-ta-toe / Poe-TAH-toe |
LOL, the first time I head the "Novelty Breeder" term from my mentor, I guess I had a "WHAT? look in my face, LOL she proceded to tell me that it meant, hobby breeder, not a kennel, that is what I was told, I don't use it because it sounded funny to me..:p but yes it is use here in the East coast for a hobby breeder. To the OP, I would have that girl check by a vet,jus to make sure everything is ok.. |
I knew what the OP meant, just being my sassy self...never heaed the term.."Novelty"...somehow it makes the dog sounds like a manufactored product..JMO |
Well we made a visit to the vet and there is no infection. Little Darling is just having a long heat cycle. I am still baffeled. Perhaps she is having a midlife crisis..lol |
