CRAZY puppies question!!! My litter of 5 precious puppies that will be 10 weeks old on Thursday have turned from 5 precious little sweethearts to 5 crazy, bouncing, growling, insane puppies in the last 5 days. This is my first and last litter ever and I am keeping them until they turn 12 weeks before turning them over to their new families but I was not expecting them to turn crazy this soon. It is like something switched in them over the last week. Don't get me wrong - they are wonderful but have become an extreme handful. Is this normal for Yorkies???? Even their momma doesn't want to get in with all of them at the same time - they push her around the xpen!!! Just wanted some feedback to see if they all go through this around this age!! Also, I have been training using a peepee pad and they are doing alright but should I be doing anything else other than loving and playing with them?? Thanks as always for any responses!!...shelley |

The best action you could take now is to send them all to me for training, this will take about 19 years and they will be returned fully trained I promise you. lol |
I can't think of anything more fun than five happy, healthy puppies bouncing around. |

yep they are right on track. If you have a room you can fence of with your expen that helps a lot. My Lexi had seven at a time and my dining room is big enough that i could let them out to run for a hour at a time morning afternoon and night. Helped a lot they would run and run and play with mom one on one. And then when i would put them back in their pen they would sleep like babies. I was amazed on how they would go back to the pee pads to potty when running. Of coures they had mistakes but my dining room is wood so easy to clean up. But giving them that added exercise will help a lot with the energy they have now. By this time my Lexi was totally done nursing and they had been eating well for weeks. I always loved this stage so much fun and so funny when they see new things. Enjoy they will soon be gone |
I would suggest taking them out of the expen and letting them run around and get some excersize. Preferably in an area that can easily be cleaned when they go potty. They are getting bigger and need more room to run and play. :animal-pa:animal-pa:animal-pa I would also suggest you and each member of the family work together with them one on one giving plenty of cuddles and working on their social skills. Early intervention is key to having well behaved, adjusted puppy. :animal36 |

All baby animals are crazy at that age. My recent experience is with kittens and they are nuts at that age |
Thanks for all the advice!! I actually have expanded the made my dining room into a play area now and they are so crazy excited to have all that room to run. We do take them out individually for one on one attention every day. There was just such a huge switch in such a short time from sweet docile puppies to crazy looney puppies!!! They are a joy and I will cry over each and every one of them that leaves!!! I am glad I am keeping one - can't let them all go!!!! |

She gets carried when I say so and not before. (weel errr most of the time) She sits on my knee only because I allow it. She shares my bed only because I want to keep her warm. I spend all my money on her but only because I feel sorry for her. I cook her meals yes but only because she may burn herself and cost me in vets fees. She gets treats off me I admit but only because they just happen to be there. I just do not agree with people spoiling dogs see........hmmmmmmm |

I totally feel your pain about the craziness! We have now had 2 litters of Australian Shepherds (over the last 2+ years) and the "crazy time" for them is about 5 weeks or so. I would go outside and they would attack! They tore holes in my exercise pants (had 2 pair that I would wear to play with them because I couldn't afford for more to be ruined!) but the funniest time was probably once when I was home alone and went outside and they all started pulling at my pants at once and while I was busy trying to detach all these teeth from me, they managed to pull my pants totally down! I was laughing so hard but I didn't have enough hands to keep them pulled up. I was always told to "discourage the pup from biting by replacing whatever they were biting with a chew toy or something" but when they are all attacking at once, it's insane! Fun times though..... :p |
