How to tell if your yorkie is blue born or not? 4 Attachment(s) hi~ how to tell if my 4months yorkie was blue born or not? her coat is black and tan but in her contract information was blue and gold. Also he have a Color dilution alopecia, she is losing hair and bald spot. I can see her skin is blue color. Any of you guys have information about my situation? if my yorkie is bule born is she gonna have shorter life than others? or unhealthy? |
I can tell you blue/gold is a color marking for yorkshires under the AKC choices. Not that she was born blue skinned. I am confused by your statement "Also he have a Color dilution alopecia, she is losing hair and bald spot" and I will leave that to the experts up here. I am also not sure about you saying you can see blue skin. Can you post a picture of her bald spot w/ blue skin underneath? BTW, she is absolutely adorable. |
1 Attachment(s) I went to my vet and they told me my yorkie have color dilution alopecia. Thats why she is losing her hair. Most people said if she is blue born maybe this is the problem. let me post the picture of bald spot. |

If your pup is black and gold right now then chances are quite high she is not blue born. The blue born pups are born battleship gray and turn brownish in color and sometimes look chocolate colored. Some may be gray but not the true blue color of a yorkie. That does not mean she does not have CDA it just means I do not believe she is blue born. |
Pups who are born blue look a silvery to middle grey at birth and they have little hair.. Your puppy is a normal born standard color..it may turn to a proper steel blue with genes and time.. Where is this bald spot? If it is on the chest it is normal for a Yorkie who is silky and going to be a bit lighter in color... |

Has she been tested to make sure the bald spot is not fungus? This puppy does not look like the "blue born" yorkie like other good people stated here already. But other skin conditions should be considered like mange for an example. If the vet did not do any tests, i would consider a second opinion just to be sure. Has anyone else here thought about any other skin conditions? XOXO |
could it not also be a bad reaction to a food change? also, my aunts dog would loose hair when stressed, but he would also chew at his legs and back- which didn't help the hair loss... there are so many possibilities that only blood tests and skin scrapings can rule out or in- a second opinion may be a good idea, and no good vet would be annoyed at you getting a 2nd opinion... |
