If she were pregnant at the time, no puppy mill would have let her go before giving birth...$$$$$ is all they care about.
I would be posting fliers for a found dog.

We did post flyers and I contacted every vet in a 50 mile radius. I had her checked for a microchip and had her vet checked as she was in such horrid condition. Vet stated that if she had had vet care in the last couple of years she would not have had the extensive problems that she has had, she had a wide variety of very old skin infections, infections in her mount, ears, etc. About $1,000 later she is now in great health and on her way, as soon as the puppies are weaned, for spaying and teeth removal and cleaning. Also, where we live is alot of wildlife, ie, coyotes, bobcats, feral dogs, etc. She would not have survived out in the cold very long. We live in a very rural area and know all of our neighbors EXCEPT for the 2 puppy mills. I choose not to know them because it breaks my heart. We do not have any animal control in this area and the sheriff's office "doesn't have time" to check out the counties puppy mills.

Just an update - The puppies are two weeks old today and they are doing great - they are anywhere from 9 - 12 ounces and fat and sassy!!! Their eyes are starting to open and Molly is doing wonderfully. All of her multitude of infections are all cleared up and she is actually starting to play a little and is spending some time away from the pups and eating on her own without me hand feeding her. So thank you very much for all of the GREAT advice and kind words.

So glad that Molly found you. Congratulations on your new family. She and her pups are so cute.

Though i agree Molly and the pups are way better off with you and you do deserve kudos for her care, but you stated (essentially) you're aware of two puppy mills (who are neighbors) - my guess is that the dog belongs to one of them. Like it or not, you should have checked with them as that dog would be their property and it isn't up to you or anyone else to take their lost property - if she got out and tangled with a 'pine, etc doesn't mean that's an true representation of how she lived. I believe you should check with them...that being said, if they are just greedy puppy mill, they might say it is their dog just to get it, thus a hard call. I'm concerned if it turns out it is one of their dogs, they have you sited for stolen property.
Good luck hope all works out for you.

I posted a HUGE sign in my front yard stating small pregnant dog found please call to identify. I posted flyers at both ends of our county road and at each gas station that is in our area, plus every grocery store and the only wal-mart around. I put them up in the local churches also. I also ran an ad in the 3 local papers for 3 weeks. I am not going to check with them in person. The sign I put up in the front yard was HUGE. NO ONE ever even called except for one lady who asked if it was a chihuahua. I feel that I have gone way over and above in trying to find out if she did have a home and where that home was. I knew that if it was my baby I would want someone to go to these extremes to find me. OBVIOUSLY wherever she came from they either 1) don't live in this area or 2) don't care that she is gone.

OK, for all of those that believe I should walk up to the puppy mills and ask them if they lost a pregnant yorkie - I am not going to do that. I have posted numerous signs in the area and posted signs in local businesses and ran ads in all newspapers and even put a huge sign in the front yard all stating FOUND SMALL FEMALE DOG (PREGNANT) PLEASE CALL TO IDENTIFY. Both puppy mill owners drive by these signs daily. I have also replaced these signs as they have weathered just in case someone was traveling through here and lost her. I have also checked with all vets within 50 miles to report that I had a lost pregnant yorkie. I have now had her for 6 weeks. NO ONE has called to identify her and I have checked back with the vets every week within this timeframe. SOO if there is someone who has an idea of something more I can do other than hand over a (now) healthy female yorkie to a puppy mill that may or may not be theirs ... I am all ears.

Looks to me like you did everything you could. I would never take a pregnant dog to a puppy miller. They saw your signs I am sure. The dog has truly been rescued by you. God bless you for that. Please make sure her pups go to homes where they will neuter or spay...(sounds like you already are planning on doing that.)

I am definitely making sure they are going to great homes. Since they are free I am having the new families sign a contract to get the babies spayed/neutered and I have done home inspections to ensure they had a fenced in yard. I actually personally know all 4 new homes and they are really great people and of course one of my babies is staying here with me!!!

My brain is not working yet this morning!! Forgot to add - Thank you - I felt attacked that I did not voluntarily take a pitifully sick pregnant yorkie and march it back to the puppy mill (if that is where it came from) and throw her back into a cage out in the weather. That is crazy and for someone to imply that it was stolen property was ridiculous. Stolen property is just that "stolen" not saved and advertised found. But enough of my ranting - Hope you have a great day and thanks...

Oh, puhleaz! You have gone above and beyond in every way not only to find her owner but in caring for these puppies. Your conscience should be free and clear. I commend you for all your efforts. You are this girl's angel! Any insinuation to the contrary is BS. You know, IMO.:)
