8 puppies born yesterday Hi my yorkie had 8 pupies born yesterday. They are doing very well:). I am bottle feeding them at intervals to give mum a break. They were bred off my other yorkie Buster - 7 of the pupies have all the typical yorkie markings but one has a large white patch on the back of her neck. How can this be:animal-pa Collette |
Can you post a picture of the puppy with the white patch? If both your dogs are purebred it may just be a "mismark" or your dogs could be carrying the Parti gene. Have they had puppies before? Congrats on the 8 puppies, you are going to be very busy for awhile. Teresa |

My goodness.... EIGHT?? Wow! Our Aussie has had two litters of only 5 each and that was plenty for her to handle! Good luck! Sorry, don't know much about the color issue. |

Hi, some Yorkie carry a Parti color gene that is recessive. When two dogs that have that recessive Parti gene are bred together they can produce a full Parti color puppy (tri-color white, black & tan) or another Parti carrier puppy. Most puppies who are full Parti colored have much more white than your puppy does so it's possible your puppy is carrying the Parti gene, it does have a large amount of white on it's chest and that white collar on it's neck. You can go to my website to see some examples of Parti colored Yorkies (Gidget, Tuxedo, Dancer, & Checkers) or you can just do a web search for Parti Yorkies - there are lots of examples that should show up. Alot of the Parti Yorkies are from the same bloodlines but not all are. Did either of the parents have alot of white as puppies. The picture in your profile pic looks like the dog has some white on his muzzle. It's also possible that your Yorkie puppy only has a "mismark" and it's just an odd marking not related to the Parti gene. Please contact me if you have more questions. Good luck with your puppies. those are some darn tootin' cute babies! congrats to you and the mommabear- who is also beautiful:D!! i've actually tried to get a parti, but hardly anyone (breeders) knew what they were, so i gave it up as a bad job. i've only ever seen one, and even the owner hadnt a clue why it had so much white- that was a funny convo with me explaining... i look about 12! the breeders you got your furkids from will with any luck be able to give you more info on their lines... but i dont know where about in ireland you are, and around here, breeders who know their lines are hard to find. i obviously can't give any more info on partis than Teresamag and co. can, but wanted to wish you all the best with your babies! give her a congrats hug from me n my :aimeeyorkbabies! |
