Thank you all for the kind words, thoughts and prayers. We did have another set back but is just a small bump in the road. Had to take momma back to the vet at 2:30 today. She was starting to slide back down and just could not keep her back up to a comfortable level. Vet put her IV back on and she received lactated ringers. She perked up and even would eat some food. Wanted all of my kisses and me to hold her. Vet sent me home with all the stuff to hook her up to the IV so I can continue to give her fluids/glucose when she needs the boost. Now on the other note. We are NOT going to attempt to put babies up to her at this point. With her fighting for her life, she needs NO additional stress of having to care for pups or produce milk. Let alone the energy used when the pups are trying to nurse. Some may not agree with the choice I made but I feel it is in the best interest of mom. While I know that mom's milk is better for the puppies I think mom's life is just as important too. My only goal at this point is to keep Mom and 4 puppies alive and as healthy as I possibly can without sacrificing one for the other. So the plan for mom and puppies will be to feed ALL every 2 hours weather they like it or not. Mom will be offered any food that I can put in front of her that she will eat. Per the vet any food we can get into her at this point is better than none at all. She did eat some cheese for me so that is a start.

If anyone has any suggestions on what I can try, do, or give I would be more than happy to receive it. So much has happened over the last 48 hours that my mind is drawing blanks and has entered survival mode. Please continue to keep us in your thoughts and prayers. Each hour that we make it is one hour closer to possible recovery.

Thank you again, there will never be enough words to explain my feelings for all the support I have gotten from YT.

Mine never turned their noses up at boiled skinless chicken breast, shredded.

Continue to pray for you, momma and the pups.

You are absolute doing the right thing by taking the pups from her. It is essential that she eats but I don't believe in changing up their diet to much or you could create more problems. All my dogs love a little Pedigree Healthy Digestion with their kibble. You can hand feed her little chunks of it as a treat. Scrambled eggs are also a good option. All mine also love egg noodles as a treat. You will certainly have your work cut out. I pray everything goes well.

Hey Sarah--Even though I have been off all day you have been in my thoughts constantly. Reading what I have missed and I felt like I was a diserter. I am glad little momma is back home and pups are doing good. I want to know how you are doing? I will pray and ask God to give you strength... (Luk 11:9) And I say unto you, Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you.
You need to be strong and take care of yourself because little momma and babies need you. I truly hope your friend or maybe her mother have come to give you a hand. Is anyone helping you? How are you feeding them suring the day? I really wish I could help in some way. Keep up the great work, keep the post coming and we are all applauding you.

I found this thread the other day and was not able to check yesterday. I came on today to find all kinds of things going on. So glad to hear the puppies are here and doing well. Sorry to hear about mom but glad that you were able to get her the medical attention she needed. I agree with your choice to keep mom alive and the babies and not stress mom any more at this point with four pups. They, by the way, are absolutely adorable!!!! Congrats and keep up the good work! You are doing a great job!

So far we are just hanging in there. Was able to get mom to eat 2 vienna sausages earlier, then got her to eat another half about an hour later and now she just ate another half. Not much but a little something. Just gave her a syringe full of nutri-cal and some water to help wash it down. Then I put the bowl of water in front of her and she took some more. Gums were still pink but not bright pink which is why I did the nutri-cal. Wanting to get her to eat to bring up her sugar's as opposed to starting the IV. Just think it is better to try to get her to help before I go that route. I know if she would get a few good bites of food she would feel so much better. She does perk up after feeding but does not last too long. She has had about 4 bouts of dirrehea today. The first had a little of dark brown or black in it which happened after we left the vets this morning. Good size amount but not too alarming. Second was all dark brown/black and smaller, third was same but even smaller after 2nd visit to vet. Last one was the size of a quarter. Do you think this is from all that she has been through? Not seeing red and no red always means good but just not sure. Told vet about it but then we got on to other things so don't feel like it is of major concern since it is going down in size. What do you think?

Have to feed puppies now so will post rest of my questions in just a little while. Hoping for a better night tonight.

I'll be up for a while if there is anything I can help you with.

I just saw this thread and can't believe all you have gone thru. Amazing! I'm sending you hugs and prayers for you, the mom and the pups all to hang in there and see some improvement in the morning.

Bless you all.
