has anyone heard of KD's Maltese and Yorkies in Burbank, California? Thank you.

Never heard of them.

Checked out the site and some red flags.

AKC (this is ok) & Certified (there is no certification by AKC)
Champions in Background - This usually means they didn't Champion the dogs....may have obtained the dogs from someone that may have, but not usually the case
1 Year Health Guarantee - No details to what this means, for what; genetic defeacts. Do you get a pup back if you return the sick pup or do they refund your money to assist you with vet care.

Big Red Flag - Only one adult yorkie pictured that appeared to be very, very small.

Mardelin, I see your name on the YTCA breeders in So California. Do you have any or know of anyone in the San Fernando Valley in Los Angeles County?

It seems I can't find anyone breeding here and I'm really dissapointed.

I do not make personal recommendations unless I know the breeder and their breeding practices. What I strongly suggest is you begin calling, that is the only way you'll be able to make a determination on the breeder's location.
There are several in driving distance of your City.

If you don't find reputable breeders having many pups there is a good reason. With the economy the way it is, and so many people without a job, why breed and have pups that might not have a home? Just food for thought. :)

Channel City Kennel Club, San Fernando Kennel Club and the Simi Valley Kennel are all having dog shows this next week. If I were you I would try to attend these shows, there will be some yorkie breeders there most likely. Go, introduce yourself, get to know some breeders after the show.

Thanks for the heads up and the list. I reviewed the list and those clubs are showing in Ventura which is too far. BUT there is a Rottweiler Club agility competition right near me this weekend! I don't know if that means Rottie's only, but I'm going there anyway.

You're welcome. yes, that show will be Rotties only. Look the list over and those with kennel clubs will be the shows with all breeds. Try to go to one of them. Meeting breeders is always better than just cold calls over the phone, IMO.

Not that far of a drive from Northridge; an hour at the most. I'm 45 minutes drive to the show grounds and live in L.A. County, will be there.

I'm going to check her out late next week or the week after. At the very least it will be good practice with all the new info I have learned. I mentioned on another post I am going to look at some rescues from that hoarder in Lancaster. Don't know if you heard about him, he had 100 dogs and he fed them bread. They are not Yorkies, all sorts of dogs I guess, they've been spread out amongst the rescues that joined in to help. My original plan was to get a Yorkie and a rescue of about the same size. Don't know about the Yorkie anymore. Maybe that will be a happy chance meeting one day.
