Signs of Pregnancy Hello everyone. I'm new to posting. I have a 2 yr old yorkie, named Leena. She weighs 6 lbs and I think that she might be pregnant. Well I definitely thought that about a week or two ago. She has definitely had a change in her behavior. My dog has always been hyper. She has been very lazy. She just lays around, she follows me around and lays wherever I'm at. She doesn't look as though she's gaining any weight. Sometimes she wants to eat at other times she just doesn't want to eat. About two weeks ago she started hiding under my bed at night and if you try to see what she's doing she gets a little moody. I have an appointment on Monday to see if they can confirm pregnancy. If she is pregnant she would be between 28-33 days pregnant. Depending on which day she became pregnant. I've been reading lots of information on the web including this site. Some say that she should start gaining weight, but I haven't noticed any drastic change in her. I look at my dog often to see if I can notice any changes. Her nipples look a little bigger but nothing drastic. Any information from anyone who has had a pregnant yorkie would be helpful. |
The easiest way to determine the odds is this: Did she tie with an intact male while she was in heat? Detecting if a dog is carrying a litter in the early stages is very tricky for the untrained eye. What does your breeding mentor have to say about it? Having seen your dog and observing her changes in behavior, what are his/her thoughts on it? |
Depending on her size and on how many she is carrying, she might not show much gain in size untill the last two weeks. A vet can do an ultrasound at this point, but they wnt show ujp in an xray until about the last week. Good Luck. |
Well I have a girl that I bred in the beginning of November and I thought I noticed a little bulk in her abdominal area after three weeks. She is on the smaller side and in good shape so I could notice even a small change in her "figure." Another sign could be what her vulva looks like. It look larger than it used to look before she came into heat. Let me know what the vet says. I had a sonogram and the vet saw 3. Barbara |
Signs of Pregnancy The male was smaller than her. He is 4 lbs. He had a little trouble. He was a little short. We tried on three different days thinking that he just needed a little more time. There definitely was penetration but he had trouble some trouble. There wasn't a tie. But I've read and spoke with the vet that pregnancy is still possible without a tie. Not sure if she's pregnant so I'm going to the vet so I can find out. How much does your dog weigh? When is she due? |
