Is it normal? my Precious just had pups Wed but she is now picking the babies up by the tail or leg and carrying them. It seems she just wants to be with us. Like right now she carried them all up on the couch and is sitting there contently nursing. Is this normal? How can I discourage it? |
This is common for a pet bitch to act this way....can you get a plastic type Rubbermade box and put it on the couch or in the area you are....if she is not used to being penned it will only upset her to be confined...bitches need quiet and calm to concentrate on caring for a litter...you must discourage her from moving her pups around the house to be close to you... |
I'd discourage her not to move her pups at all. I'd be afraid she'd hurt them. My girl tried getting into my bed to go to sleep the night she delivered her pups. I put her back in with the pups and stayed with her for a long time. She just wanted to be close to me but she realized she needed to stay with her babies and it didnt become a problem. Could you sit on the floor next to her whelping box instead of sitting on the sofa? |
