Possibility of a cesarean? I was just wondering how common it is for a Yorkie to have to undergo a cesarean section? And I know that it depends on the weight as well, so if the dog is 6-7 pounds. Thanks. |

There is no way to guess...big Yorkies need sections as well as small ones. So much depends on how many pups, the size of the pups, the size of the bitches pelvic opening, the condition of the uterine muscles, care of bitch during gestation..not too fat, not too thin...pups get positioned wrong and cause a blockage, some bitches just shut down and no amount of oxyie can get her started contracting...she could be a good size with normal size pups all in the proper position and those suckers just won't come out... |

Yep...that pretty much sums it up. |
Thanks for letting me know. Khloe is just a puppy, and she is my world. We are getting a little boy at the end of the month, and he is gorgeous. I've researched info. about breeding her when she turns 2, and I am worried that she would have to undergo a c-section. Her Mom was 8 lbs., her Dad was 6, and she is 3 1/2 lbs. at 4 months, but have decided to get her spayed by the end of the year. I just wanted to find out from others who have bred their pups in the past, and get all the information that I could before I made a decision. Thanks for replying. (: |
