Embarrassing Question?? O.K., So I have a question for you, I wanted to ask it here in the breeders section because I know you have more experience with neutering older males. I need to neuter my little guy, he just turned 1 and is a 3 1/4 lbs. When you fix an older male whose testicles have obviously dropped, do the scrotum eventually go down or is there loose skin down there? I saw a large dog that had a lot of skin hanging down between his legs and it was so disgusting!! I don't want that happening to my baby. If I could I would keep his little jingle balls, I actually like them and think they are cute!! :p I know, I'm weird. Anyway, I thanks in advance for your experience!! |
I neutered a one year old and yours is a very VERY valid question. I didn't dare ask, don't know why, so my answer came with time. Right after the neuter there will be loose skin, but as time goes on, it all tightens up down there. Now, you can't even tell on Kaji. He's all "smoothed out." :) |
it eventually smoothes out, we had a rotty that we didn't neuter until they dropped, and he had the loose skin for, idk, maybe a month or more, but it went away and you can't tell anymore :D |
My older yorkie, Vinnie, was neutered around the age of 2 when I adopted him from the local pound. He did initially have a sagging piece of skin where his testicles used to be, but over time the skin shrank. Today, it is unnoticeable. I think it took about 6 months or so to shrink completely back up. |
Very understandable question! It tightens up and goes away over time. My neighbor's boyfriend actually picked her dog up and brought him home after his neuter. He met me in the front yard, frantic, dog in hand wanting me to look at him because he 'thought they left one.' :p No worries though, it goes away. |
I neutered 2 boys at the age of 3 and it went away over a course of a few weeks and then I neutered a yorkie resuce at the age of 8 years old and the loose skin went away yet again over the course of a few weeks. It will go away :) No worries. Donna |

Thank you all so much for your reassurance!! I am so glad that he won't have little udders hanging down!! I actually looked into testicular implants, neuticles, just in case you guys said that he would have saggy skin!! My husband thought I was crazy and he said "No way am I paying $300 bucks for 2 silicone jelly beans!!":D I burst out laughing because he was so right, I was being ridiculous! Thanks for all your comments, he is going for his snip, snip next Friday, so say a few prayers that he gets through it OK. :xfingers::cf57: |
HAHAHAHAHA!!! Silicone jellybeans. Tell your hubbie that went over well on YT!. :D |

Hey we just got our Keegan fixed. He was 10 months and he had both his jelly beans down....When we brought him home the beans were gone but their sack was still there....it's been about almost 2 weeks and the sack is almost gone :) |

Weird question, if you want to keep his "jingle balls" have you considered getting him a vescetomy (sp?) the way they do for human guys? Everything is still in place they are just unable to produce puppies? |
