Litter has a clear nasal discharge I have a litter of four pups that are eight days old and have a slight clear nasal discharge and a few little sneezes here and there and I don't know what it could be or maybe this is normal? They all have good temps, weight gain and not dehydrated. I brought them to the vet a few days ago to have the tails docked and dewclaws removed and he couldn't see anything wrong with them. I was worried and still am that it could be a upper respiratory infection. I have the nursery temperature to 80 degrees and humidity level at 55%. Any suggestions? |
I've never noticed any sneezing with my newborns. I would be concerned with anything out of the ordinary with new pups. Did this only start since the vet visit? Is it affecting all the pups? Did you consider it might be the bedding? If you use fabric softener, it could be an irritant for them. Sorry I can't be of much help. I would suggest you call your vet and he/she may want you to bring them in. Just remember to keep them warm on the trip if you go, and don't run the a/c in the car. I like to schedule visits with newborns first thing in the morning so other animals haven't been in that room that day. Some vets have a dedicated room for babies to prevent infections. |
