around the pups is it normal for ahia to be so agressive towards buckeye? she doesnt want him in the house. he don't understand. she looks like she is stalking him. and for the first time he is scared of her. how do i get her to let him near the pups? will this also pass? |

oh guish thank you. i think it was stressing me out more than ahia. LOL. |
Even though Trixie and Cody (daddy dog, my father's) are normally friends, when he was at our house this weekend, she came out of the bathroom and I thought she was going to eat him. The same is true for Flash, our Basset and Trixie's best friend that she used to sleep with every night. She started attacking Flash about 2 weeks before she had her pups. |
it's perfectly normal. my girls dont tolerate anyone male or female coming near their newborns. once the pups are weaned and socializing with the others, youll see that she will lose some interest in them and they will be allowed around proud poppa! |
Bridget allowed the other dogs around her babies when they where about 3 weeks old. Before that Wow Watch Out! |
I suggest get an xpen to separate the two so he can see in and she can see out, yet they both have their own space. Once they're walking she will become less protective!! |
Yes this is normal. |
My lily just had pups almost 4 weeks ago. she won't let anyone in my room. My sire Woody is so confused, my other dam Lulu keeps sneaking in an trys to nurse the pups. When lily see this she is ready to pounce on lulu. We have been lucky, we have been one step ahead of lily. Ahia just like lily needs their space, they are protecting their pups. When the pups start playing around and eating on their own she will let the other dogs near the pups. Good luck and enjoy the little ones. :littleang |
ldenise, sorry I missed the post on your litter, So congrats!!! How many pups were you blessed with???? I keep all my mother's seperate from all the dogs until 3 to 4 weeks of age. The female and their pups stay in my bedroom with a baby gate across the door. This is just my method and I am sure that other's will have additional information and/or help.... :p |
Im not trying to gross any one out but some males have been known to eat the puppies at birth. So I have never let my males around any of the females at birth or after untill the puppies are older. |
Snow Yorkies, we had 4. 2 & 2. I am hoping i got a pretty accurate weight on them all. they move around do much. i got a digital postal scale to weigh them. they will be one week tomorrow and growing so fast. my husband has one favorite and I have one favorite. but.......... we can only keep one. thank you all for your help. I am sleeping in the spare room with them and of vcourse Buckeye has to sleep with me in the bed. ahia is fine with him in the room just not close to the pen. she gives him the 'look". I have to laugh because it is the same look my mother used to give me when we were being bad with people around that she didnt feel comfy to scold us in front of them. (such as church). I have another question having to do with color this time. what is more desirable as far as what you look for in new borns? having no white marks or with white marks. I have one i think is perfect in my opinion. (keep in mind i know nothing about the subject , but want to learn). and i am also not asking because i want to breed. |
