I am in SHOCK!!! So about a month ago I saw my neighbors who inherited a yorkie from their next door neighbor who said she was not house broken and they didnt want her any more. UGH! As soon as I saw her, I said, she is pregnant!!! I have seen many photos on YT and I knew without a doubt. OH, and guessing it is either a s**tzu or poodle since they owned 2 males that werent fixed!!! Last night my DH runs in to them and FOR SURE she is pregnant and obviously are allowing it to stay that way. They don't have a clue what they are doing AND they are about to leave town for a week. GUESS WHAT? They want US to help them. I am praying that the knowledge I have gained from YT will help me if I have to assist them with this whelp. I am peeved! Anyway, they know to call me night or day. PEOPLE ARE IDIOTS! |

Will you be able to take time off? |
OMG, Dana! I can see why you are so pissed! If I can help in any way, just let me know. Any idea of when she is due? Do they know to have an x-ray done? |
Do you think she is ready to deliver? This is just horrible. Do they even know who the father of the litter is, size, when the mating happened? Do you have the name of their vet, have they taken her to be seen, how many puppies are expected. I would NOT let them leave town without a credit card and a vet number in case something happens. |

ETA - Dana you are going to need a lot more than Yorkie Talk. This lady/man is CRAZY. |
They know nothing. They have a westie female that is spayed. So, she was bred before they got her. Van says she is getting big. I haven't seen her. Van told her to bring her to us. Just because I KNOW we would get her to the vet. I have no clue y'all. I can't believe that I am dealing with stupidity right across the street!!! I knew, my gut told me a month ago she was PG. I told them and they ignored it. Now, I have no clue, how long or anything. They said the people also had a Poodle and a Shi tzu that were both bigger than her, both males. She is small....about the size of Jazzy, Renee. Probably smaller. UGH. I think this is why I woke up with a migraine. I was worried all last night. Renee, I tried to call you about 9:30 because I was literally sick to my stomach. :( I am going to try to see her tonight. |
I pmed you some info and my #..... |

That poor female is lucky to have YOU showing interest and offering help - I have nothing good to say about the people but you are a good person for what you may be taking on !:thumbup::thumbup: |

Oh what a nightmare! Good thing this baby has you looking out for her. I wouldn't know what to do either. I hope everything goes well. Maybe they can turn her over to you as they might see this as a "money maker" now and breed her on purpose. |

What a situation. So these new owners know she is pregnant? I would suggest that in the interests of the safety of their new dog (if she is pregnant) that they board her with the vet whilst they are away. Taking on the responsibility of a pregnant female while owners are out of town can be a huge one. Should she need medical care then she would already be at the vet's. If they can't/won't do this, and if you want to assume that responsibility I heartedly agree with an earlier poster. You need their vet's name, address, hours of operation, their credit card with their authorization to use on file with this vet in case of emergency care being needed. It is very large hearted of you to offer to care for this gal. |
Wow! that's horrible! Glad you have a heart of gold and offered to help. Keep us posted! |
I feel so sorry for you and that poor baby. Do they at all seem concerned about her and do they realize what a tremendous favor they are asking of you? I agree with the other posters that obtaining the vet's name, address, and credit card with authorization is a must. I think I would also make them sign some kind disclaimer stating that you will not be held responsible if something should go wrong while they are away and that any decisions you have to make for the welfare of this baby will be upheld by the owners. This way you can cover yourself as well. Good luck and please keep updating. :aimeeyorkYorkieProud:aimeeyork :pGOOD MORNING KISSES FROM YORKIES ARE SENT STRAIGHT FROM HEAVEN!!:p |

Even though we met, I'm not sure if you live in the Dallas area. If you plan to take on this responsibility (good for you, your heart is great). But, contact Monolo's Mom, get Dr. Hawthorne's # and explain the situation. He'll be on call for you. There's also the possibility that Lissette can talk to my mentor and get her to assist you should the need arise. |
Good luck with the little girl and God bless you for being there for her. I will pray that she is big enough to handle the whelp and all goes well. This thread made me cry this morning as I see clearly now how uneducated the general public is when it comes to being a responsible dog owner. I wish people had to take classes to be able to own dogs. ( of course even then some would fail ) |
Was just checking to see if there was update. Has anyone else heard from the OP on the situation? :aimeeyorkYorkieProud:aimeeyork :pISN'T IT FUNNY HOW THE SMALLEST CREATURE CAN HAVE THE BIGGEST HEART?:p |
