What age can a yorkie be bred?
 
When are you spose to breed a yorkie?
One of my dogs, bella is going into heat... She is 7 months old. Should I wait a few months or breed now?
Any advice?

Don't breed now - she is a baby herself!! What does she weigh? A lot of different things matter... but don't breed her now!! I have a 7 month old and wouldn't even think of it... not sure what the age recommended is? Someone here can tell you - I do know it is not before the 2nd season for sure. Hope this helps, Ana xx

Don't breed her now! Wait until she's about 18-20 months old she'll be mature enough to be a good mother.

This thread is 2 1/2 yrs old. I think she may be old enough now ;)

Okay, you can reply to old posts, you know. You still shouldn't breed any dog at 7 months old, duh. I hope you know that. I am a certified Yorkie breeder so ha ha.

Okay, not wasting my time with you for much longer. A certified Yorkie breeder is I have a license to operate a kennel if I want to, you have to apply for one in Los Angeles in order to make sure that your not going to abuse your dogs or whatever or run a puppy mill.

I'm sorry to somehow have offended you, your responses are very ugly for no reason :confused:

But since you brought it up, a license to operate a kennel has nothing to do with knowledge of breeding yorkies. This does not mean you are a "certified Yorkie breeder" as there is no such thing. Bring this up in the breeder section and get their take on it.

This is a friendly community, members here do not take kindly to responses as rude as yours.

Wow - no need to be hostile. She was just letting you and others know that this is an old thread and so anything we say wouldn't be read by the OP any longer. Sometimes an old thread gets brought up and a lot of members start replying, not realizing it is an old thread so I know it's always helpful to me to have someone remind us that it is an old thread (I forget to look at the dates sometimes). She was not challenging your knowledge as a breeder or the advice you were giving - only letting you and others know that the thread was old. Of course we can continue to discuss an old topic. But like I said - no need to be hostile

Having a license to operate a kennel doesn't mean s**t, excuse me, doggie poop when it comes to breeding dogs...and it surely does not prevent dog abuse or stop puppy mills...if only it was that simple we would all breath easy about the breed...!

You are so right as it stands most Puppy Mills and Pet Stores have these liscenses....it doesn't prevent abuse.....

It just so happens most of these laws are put into place because of those Puppy Millers, wholesalers, etc....it doesn't work...these are the people that can afford them, since the operate and sell puppies on a large scale.

In all honesty, no joking...I have never heard of that as a term that offers automatic credibility for breeding.

In CA they now have to have a licence if you have any intact dog and plan to breed that new law thing.

Oh, I didn't know that. But that's not what she meant, is it? Because THAT doesn't mean anything as far as if you are a good breeder. :confused: I thought maybe she meant she was recognized specially by a registry or something...?

I am a good breeder sheesh! Just ask any of my clients. I breed for the love of it, not for the $ which a lot of people do now. I've been doing it for a long time. I do have a kennel license, although I do not operate a kennel, I have no need to do so.

No, I don't run a puppy mill, it's wrong and cruel. I'm a stong believer that animals should be treated right. So I'd never abuse a dog or any animal or operate a puppy mill!

If you guys don't believe me about producing healthy,good quality animals, you can talk to my clients on how they feel about the dogs I've sold them. I've had eight Yorkies in my lifetime and a German shepherd and a Chihuahua, so I do have a lot of experience when it comes to dogs,dog breeding and Yorkshire Terriers.
