1. I'm not sure what everyone has against mixbreeds... but apparently there is something wrong about it?
2. I've been told many times the best way to breed dogs is to let them alone to do their thing...
That being said, I am also starting to think (know) that I made a huge mistake, and I too am now hoping she is not pregnant. We have been trying to breed her for a long time, we just couldn't find another small male, so when he came over and they showed interest we let them. Both dogs are in good health, but I'm freaking out about the fact that where she is old and something could happen during birth. If she is pregnant we will be having a vet watch her.

Yes, breeding mixed breeds is totally wrong! Look how many of them are in the pounds today and sadly put to sleep, since no one wants them. We have a pound in my area, close by, and they get mixed breeds turned in every day. Luckily they are a no kill pound. There are more mixed breeds turned in than purebreds. Just a fact. Also with mixed breeds pups - they are more likely to get more problems that are related to each of the breeds they were mixed with. So now instead of the problems that the yorkie breed is with, you now have the genetic problems that dach. have too. Not a good idea.
No, it is not okay to just let them go. That is an olds wives tale. They can actually get hurt.
Yorkies normally do not have pups on their own. Sounds like you do not know how to deliver a litter either. So much can go wrong. Do you have an extra 700 - 1,000 dollars for a c-section?? A spay now is a lot cheaper and can save her life, like the other explained. I would not risk her life. What if something happened to her because of this breeding, could you live with this knowing that you were the one responsible? I do not think you want to. You seem to love her (from you past posts) and want to do what is right. Have her spayed. It is the right thing to do now. |
