Modified Cotton Coat?? Can someone explain this to me? I can pick out a modified cotton coat, but do people really breed for this type of coat? I don't understand  |
I am sure there are many pet breeders that are ignorant of the differences in coat quality, but a good breeder tries to produce silk consistently, NOT cotton, it's a fault to the standard. |
I've seen some show breeders who looked like they had cotton coats in their dams and sires. Is there a strategy to this? To me it just seems like they are going to produce cottons instead of offsetting another trait. Just wondering. Thanks! |
Boy, that cotton coat is really hard to manage. I find the only way to keep it looking good is to have the puppy cut. I'd much rather have the silk coat. |
coat I was talked into finishing a softer coated male..he had so many wonderful traits..structure was superb..what a showman. Plus, people would agrue that he was silk, others said soft.. He was bred a few times and I got some great silk pups, but I also got some really soft coats...so I stopped breeding him. I just hate the work of a soft coat and the pet owners usually have to keep them clipped down..so I prefer not to breed from them or even own one..I can't keep them groomed nicely. |
