We are now 38 days in and Diamond is doing great! We are now 38 days in gestation and Diamond is doing great. She is still being very picky with her food but is eating great. She loves the boiled chicken so boiled chicken and dry puppy food in the food processor is what we are constantly doing to keep her happy and healthy. Since the visit with the vet on June 1 2010 with conformation of 3 and possibly a 4th pup she has went from 6.8 lbs to 8.2 lbs and has really began to show alot :D! I will post updates and pics later if she will sit still long enough for me to take any Lol! |
Diamond's Dad....got tummy pics? We bred our girl almost the same time you did, but ours is still tiny. How big was your girl to begin with? She's gained alot already! Mine has only gained .4 lbs. But she did have a tummy virus last weekend. NOw she's eating like crazy and I'm driving her nuts weighing her every day. deb |
Hey Deb Diamond was 6 lbs before she was bred! I usually weigh her 1 time a week and she is also eating alot now she went off her food post breeding and was really picky with what she ate up until about a week ago.I dont have any belly pics as of yet but I am working on it and will post as soon as we get a couple pics. |
Hey Diamond'sDad, I am glad to hear that all is going well for you. I can't wait to see those babies once they get here. Please keep updating. Lots of luck. :aimeeyorkYorkieProud:aimeeyork |
My girl's first tie was May 31 so its 2 weeks to the day for her. She's sleeping a LOT, but thats about all I have noticed. No a.m. sickness & eating the same. I hate the wait. Cant wait to see Diamond's belly pics. |
Simon and Layla 4 Attachment(s) We just bred Layla for the first time with Simon, a proven stud that we got from a local breeder who was selling out her business to spend more time with her grandchildren. The first two pics are of Simon, he's 5 lbs 9 oz, then the next are of Layla, my best friend since I got her at eight weeks. A little spoiled, she's around 7 lbs 10 oz. This will be her first litter (if, that is, the breeding was successful). |
Diamond at 42 days pregnant 1 Attachment(s) I hope this pic uploads....This is the baby belly of Diamond at 42 days!Attachment 319398:animal-pa |

Awww, I remember that... Love the baby belly, not so fond of the nursing one (she looks like a cow, even funnier when she runs lol!). But she's lookin' good. Keep us posted! I'm 2.5 weeks post and still having fun... |
We are 47 days pregnant! 1 Attachment(s) Hey all Just doing a weekly update! Diamond is 47 days pregnant today and is now a whopping 8.6 lbs from her original 6 lbs. She is eating really well and has been doing alot of shredding papers and blankets getting herself and her space prepared. Here is the latest belly pic Attachment 319625! I will keep you guys posted!:animal-pa |
We went in for our x-ray yesterday and all is well! Initially the vet palpated 3 pups that he said he was sure it was 3 and possibly a 4th pup and yesterday the x-ray showed 2! There is a possibility that there is a pup hiding under it's siblings so I'm prepared for the unexpected got all supplies needed and we are going to just wait and see. I will keep everyone posted! |

Why would a Vet palpate her? Are you saying that as a word for something else? Two puppies? First time mom? What you need the most is a very close VET. Are you in a rural area and is your vet one of those old timers? I can't image a vet palpating to GUESS. Why palpate when they have all of the tools needed for a pretty accurate reading? The prices for xrays and ultrasounds (pushing the xray but not the other) and these things made me question the vets lack of breed knowledge or be an ol timer. I'm sure he/she's very nice. You said they were going to give you the size of the puppies, did they do this? Did they tell you how? |
Elle not sure where you are trying to go with this but if you read the posts there are plenty of other YM that have had a free whelp birth with two pups, I have actually read a few with just one pup. My comment on prepared for the unexpected is just as I stated I am preparing for it all meaning the good and the bad that comes with whelping! As you know anything can change at the drop of a dime. I have at least 7 vets within 5 minutes from my home and my vet is actually a young guy not a "ole timer" and yeah I am set in my ways and don't plan on changing my plans for I have been doing this for many years. This was intended just as a friendly post so you can like it or don't not really looking for approval but all advice is welcomed. |
Just wanted to clear the x-ray and palpation up! We first went in to confirm pregnancy and the vet did a palpation and confirmed the pregnancy and stated that he was sure that he felt at least 3 pups and possibly a 4th one. The x-ray came in yesterday at a follow up visit and showed 2 pups so yeah I was a little concerned by the switching of diagnosis from 3 or 4 to 2 pups. The vets here rather palpate to confirm pregnancy and of course follow up with x-rays later. to see the size and position of pups. |
