Hello-New to this Hi, My name is Isenia and I'm kinda new at this I have 1 yorkie his name is Beau and I was looking into studding him out. He is my baby and I'm scared. I have heard alot of stories both good and bad but I would have to say more bad about providing a stud service. Any suggestions on where I should start. thanks |
Hi! Welcome to YT. A good place to start is examining your reasons for wanting to breed. Are they noble reasons (bettering the breed) or do you simply want to bring more puppies into the world? Once you've answered that question, go to dog shows. There you will meet people that have an eye for dogs that can really help improve the breed. They will be the ones to guide you. I think we've all at some point considered breeding our beloved pets. From what I've learned on this site, it takes so much more than putting two dogs together and a ton of responsibility. I knew I couldn't do it, no matter how appealing puppy breadth was. :p Kaji is my happy little boy and he will always be that way. I hope this helps! :) |
It does melp. Thank you. Beau is spolied rotten and he is adorable. I have had people approach me about breeding him but I have always been a bit skeptical. Everywhere I go he goes with me and I am a stay at home mom so he has never been in a kennel or left alone so I'm just not sure how all of it would work. I have been to places like Canton, TX and seen all the puppy mills and I just hate it and don't think I would ever breed him just to make money. I think I will look into some shows. Thanks again for the advice.:) |
Hello and welcome to YT... |
Hello and welcome to YT! It is great to see you here, This is a place that you will find a lot of great information. |
I would suggest by finding an experienced breeding mentor in you area that you can work with first. (Really the only way to start the path to breeding ethically, IMO.) A mentor can help you determine what health tests to have run on your dog, can help you in having him evaluated to determine if he *should* be bred and can help you when screening females that will compliment him. Good luck and welcome to YT! |
Welcome to YT you will find a ton of experienced people here. :welcome4: |

Read this if you're looking to learn. http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/yor...-answered.html While your thread is one to have your questions answered, it can give the appearance of soliciting your dog for stud, which is against YT rules. |
