And they are (I think) ALL girls!! Juliet did SO awesome!! Labor was SOO quick, she had myself & my husband on our toes (at 4:44am!) that's for sure! She finished up by almost 6am! QUICK!! I was/am so proud of her, she's doing well with them!! The smallest is 5oz and the largest is 6.5oz! She did great!

Question about the goat milk recipe after whelping...what if I can't find goats milk? Can I use evap milk?

Yes, but I live in Hawaii...and I have looked at every store on the Leeward side of the island (ok maybe not EVERY), but about 10 and nothing....

Congrats! That's a HUGE litter as far as Yorkies go, so I'm gald everything went smoothly. Hopefully momma (and YOU!) can get some rest.

Congratulations on your litter. Sounds like you have some good healthy sized pups.. WOW, that's a big job for Momma and you. You can use evaporated milk instead of goat's milk to supplement. Just search in Google for supplementing newborn puppies and you should get some recipes. I've had good luck with one part evaporated milk to one part boiled water+ touch of Karo syrup to supplement only - not as only source of nutrition. Good luck with your kids.

Thanks everyone! I was actually talking about the goat's milk recipe for momma that's a sticky at the top of "Breeder Talk". She's had some pudding and a little water, trying to get her to drink a little more...but I wasn't sure about that recipe.

I know canned goats milk is over there someplace (my breeder from Honolulu used it with my Tiki), and I was able to get it on Maui at Safeway.

Thanks Sandy! I'll see if I can find a Safeway near me! :) She's finally eating something too..mixed some cottage cheese, 1/2 boiled egg & yogurt with her food, and she's eating. Yay!

Or make a few phone calls to all grocery stores near you and ask if they have it; I know driving around w/traffic can take up all your time. Goat's milk is pricey though, I think we paid over $5 per can. Glad she is eating, and it seems things are going really good for you!

Congratulations to you and Juliet on her successful whelp of 7 healthy puppies. That is awesome that she did so well and so quickly. Hopefully with the start of those healthy weights they will all continue to do well. Just keep mom well fed with quality puppy food and the whelping pudding.

Safeway did have some....it's the refrigerated kind, not the canned kind however, but I figure it shouldn't be too big a difference for momma.

Happy to report that mom & girls are doing great!! So far they have all gained anywhere from .5 to .75 of an ounce! Juliet is SUCH a GOOD mommy! We go on Sunday for their first check up and tails docked.

I know just how you feel, I was a virtual sponge reading and studying as much as I could before she gave birth. Honestly, I was SHOCKED at how fast they came, I mean, I guess I kinda figured it would be a little easier for her, since they'd be smaller than a littler of 3 or 4, but was not anticipating a puppy every 10-15 minutes!! The longest wait was after #4...and I figure it was the 2nd horn starting...but that was only about 20 mins and then came 5, 6 & 7! Juliet is 9lbs and Romo is 12, so they are on the larger side of the spectrum. She ended up having them on day 56, and they are all doing GREAT! There is a small one, which we noticed at the vet when we did her xray, but she's doing well, and she holds her own. She's one of the ones that has gained .75 of an ounce. We will weigh them again tonight, but so far, AWESOME!! I am proud of my momma & her baby girls! It's very exciting! My biggest challenge is making sure Juliet eats enough. She's drinking plenty of water, but her appetite isn't as healthy as I'd like it to be, but we're working on it.

Best advice, just be ready...have everything you need, and gain as much knowledge as you can. Two of the girls were breech, but after so much study I knew what to do, and they both came out wiggling and crying! :)

Many puppies come out backwards, feet first, they are not considered breech unless they come butt first with feet under them.

Congrats on your new babies. That is so exciting and how wonderful will that be once they all start running around. A house full of yorkies I would love that. Going to go check out the pictures....congrats again :D
