Breeder question about my Yorkie I bred my Yorkie on March 22nd, puppies due about May 22nd. This morning I took her out to the bathroom, and when she pee'd, a thin, long, yellow-ish substance was hanging from her. I had to bring her in to wipe her clean. Is this normal? Or, should I be alarmed? |
I have never had that happened. Take her temp and make sure it is not high. It is the very dark green, almost black clolored discharge you must watch for. But to play it safe, since I have never seen this, call your vet. Better to be safe than sorry. She may be having a bladder infection. |
Thank you so much. I can't quite get ahold of my Breeder today since it is Sunday....I didn't know if I should be concerned or not. |

Mary is right. There will be a light brownish yellow discharge (all normal). Warnings: dark, dark almost blackish green discharge (I had this once on a bitch and almost lost her). Or if the discharge has a bad order to it. The one that I almost lost - her pup came out of its sack in utero. We lost that one, but had two healthy other pups do just fine. When you mentioned yellow - I was thinking a bright yellow for some reason. |

White or yellow CAN be bad if it has a strong odor and/or a cottage cheese appearance. That would be an indication of Pyometra. Mucousy like you described though is pretty normal. Most of them have some discharge after being bred. |
Thanks everyone! You all have reassured me, that it IS normal....no smell, light yellow-ish in color. I will keep an eye on her & take her temp repeatedly but, as of now, she is at normal temp. |
