Mindy's mammary glands are swollen and has milk... 1 Attachment(s) Morning all:) Mindy is our yorkie (or yorkie mix) that we got from my husbands co-worker a few months ago. She came to us already bred and toward the end of her heat. We knew the tie date and she would have had pup 2/20. She had obvious signs of being pregnant including starting to "show", she had swollen teats and it had the sticky stuff expressing. We think she aborted or had a false pregnancy. I have never had this happen with any of my dogs. Anyhow she obviously never had any pups but she still has swollen teats with milk in them. I have never run across this before. I can actually express liquid/milk. And am wondering how long it takes for this to dry up? When I wean a litter they naturally dry up of course, but they had puppies, and she hasn't and like i said I have never had this happen.. Thanks |
Sometimes when a female comes in season her mammary glands will swell up. I had a lady call me with this same issue. At first we thought it was a fake pregnancy but not the case. After 2 months with swollen mammary glands I told her to call her vet and have her checked out. She was acting fine and had no signs of fever or anything however she did have an infection in her mammary glands. That is my only guess for your little girl. Can't hurt to call the vet and get her checked out. |

I do not believe she has any kind of infection, I have seen mammary infections. Thanks |
