I'm Korean, and I have to agree with you ladies about puppies fom lux puppy looking unhealth and what they are doing is just for $$$. I know this pet store in NY, they import puppies from Korea as well. I did some research on Korean yahoo, and found out that there are alot of breeders giving their puppy some kind of shot to their livers to prevent them from absorbing nutrients, so they stop growing. Many of puppies who got this shot only live up to 5~6yrs. Also, there's this guy who invented dog food that controls dog's size. He produced these tinies (1.5~2lb) and sold them for $10,000 in Korea. He tried to register his food at the dog convention in USA, but he was not only unsuccessful, got harsh criticism. Don't buy puppy from this kind of website, you will only ends up with heartache. |

Just because I've been here a long time and this can't be said enough - but people - WATCH WHERE YOU GET A PUPPY FROM ! Buying for size only can lead to alot of heartache. Not saying all tinies have health issues but with these stupid breeders who try to go smaller and smaller -it's unhealthy for the mom AND the puppies - we can easily see due to the many posts about LS and other problems there's way too many sick puppies now out there.....all because of money |

Bye the way, being from Italian lineage, my ancestors have been known to eat a Pigeon or 2, so I guess that bird statemet is out of contect? LUX is a place to avoid. How about you buying a few of them and then let us know how they are doing in 5 years. |
Sorry, I forgot to post a link. Here is just one of many....I do not make stuff up. This is a fact, but it is part of the culture. BBC News | ASIA-PACIFIC | South Korea's dog eaters bite back Lux? Caveat Emptor |

The poor girl in the picture is full grown @1.2lb!!! He said that people can control the size of the dog by feeding them his food!!! Thankfully, the Korea Association for Animal Protection are stopping him from commercializing his food. |
Great reply. Like you, I realize that only a small minority are dog meat eaters, and never meant to insinuate that all there do it. To be honest, I was there back in 1976 and do not remember the names of the locations we were at, but I did see it in Seoul and several other larger cities. We spent most of the time with the Marine Division. It is a cultural thing, and Korea is not the only country where it takes place. Also hope it stops. Have a great day. Interesting thoughts on eating habits of different cultures. I've also heard of eating cats, monkeys and a few isolated incidents of modern cannibalism. One thing I'd like to add is that many westerners eat pork, despite the fact that the average pig is smarter than a dog. I guess it all comes down to how we regard different species. Here's a link on pig intelligence.... The Intelligent Pig: The Smartest Domestic Animal in The World Sorry to have gone off topic.. |

Carrots!! Ya know there are certain religions that will not eat any veggie pulled from the ground as it may harm a reincarnated ancestor as it is pulled out. It's all in the perspective. I'm 1/2 Korean and my brother lives in Seoul, he says they still eat dog in many places and yet, he has one as a pet. They eat generic dog, not the pet breeds. Hindus think we are horrible to eat the sacred cows. Other countries can't imagine why we would eat a filthy pig (although they are very clean), some parts of Mexico they eat dog. It's all in the perspective. But no matter your perspective or your wartime background to just throw out "they eat dog" is blanketing the entire race without qualification and therefore, yes offensive. I was born during the Korean War and spent my first year in a Korean orphanage in Seoul. I have my own perspective. Oh yeah, my brother's wife is a police detective in Seoul, between the two of them they have three cats and the one dog, my brother says that they are all too small to make a meal and one would not waste their time on just appetizers..... |
