Help! My new mommy :eek:Mia had her litter on Feb 10th, 6 puppies, now she seems too not be intresed in them she does not want too spend much time with her new litter. What could be wrong? What can i do too keep her intrested in her new babies? |

I dont think you can force her to be a mommy so its going to be your responsibility to step-in and take care of the pups. Is mom doing okay otherwise?? |
Is she spending anytime at all with the babies? is she eating ok, are her calcium levels ok? are the puppies crying a lot? you have to make sure mama is ok, she does not need to be in the whelping box 24/7 but she has to be there often to feed them and diapering them, if they are crying a lot then they might be hungry in which case you need to feed them, and get a soft cotton wet with warm water and stimulate their parts so they can pee and poo. |
Making sure she has enough food and calcium for a litter of 6 is the first thing. I also see that when the puppies get longer nails on their paws, moms spend less time with the babes. Once I clip the nails they once again allow the puppies to nurse longer. I can't imagine 12 little paws with sharp little nails kneading into my boobs. I'd surely push that away too. You may want to check them for her. |
