For all the breeders here I have something to say!
 
Just wanted to say...congrats to all you responsible and caring breeders here. I have tons of respect for you! Well I always have but now that I have 2 puppies at once I see how much work it is..and I only have 2. I can't imagine how it must be to have more! They have SOOO much energy, etc, it is exhausting! It is also lots of fun! lol But it is definitely a lot of work and I don't know how you breeders do it! It is such a big responsibility but they just bring so much happiness! Anyway...just wanted to share that. So all you breeders I applaud you for making sure these little ones are healthy and for all the work you do before they go to their forever homes!

I wonder how many breeders we do have on YT.
and just think you got them at the playful fun age. the worst day and weeks are the hardest/ lots of worries. I think. but I guess then comes the learning and potty training. LOL

Very nice of you, but remember we have mother's help.....yes, we keep them clean, socialize them, make sure they have all their vaccinations and vet checks....make sure they're potty trained......their new families get them when their energy levels are at their peak.....so, hats off to their new family, who will take them on walks, to the vets', train them and love them for the rest of their lives.

Its alot of work but ohhhh soooo rewarding. I get tears everytime I see how happy I make a new mommy and daddy :)

With that said, I have 3 little 9 wk olds having the time of their life right now running and wrestling with each other, that just spilled their food bowl all over that I have to clean up haha. Actually they are having fun with the food on the floor too! LoL

I have a a wee one that for some reason every night, just before bedtime....she loves to stick her feet in the water bowl and plays.....so, every night before she gets put down....I take her in the puppy room and have to blow dry her......then go back and mop up the mess she's made......I think it's a game.....she's the only one that won't drink from a water bottle.

~ Thanks! The best part about it besides taking care of them for the first several weeks of their life is when I can make somebody happy with their new little healthy baby. That brings me such joy. But it is hard to send them packing, I get so-ooo attached. Some stay in touch with pictures, videos and updates and on occasion, will get a visit from my babies. :D

Well that's true too...i hadn't thought about that. They do have tons of energy when they go to their new homes. But still you guys do the work in their first stage of life..make sure they are eating well and thriving, and socializing.

Our Australian Shepherd had her first litter this past summer and man, I can tell you it is a lot of work. I don't know if it's more work with smaller ones or bigger ones. I gained a LOT of knowledge from this site beforehand, thank goodness! But really nothing prepared me for when they got bigger and learned to gang up on me! At about 8 weeks old, they would surround me outside and pull on my pants until they had them pulled down. It's SO hard to teach the "no biting" thing when 5 of them are all ganging up on you at once! But yes, it was SO rewarding. Two of them were picked up by someone from Germany to go back home with her and 2 stayed in Texas and we kept one. As much as cleaning up their messes got to me, I was still really sad to see them leave.

We always have to remember to advocate for those breeders who are preserving the Yorkie breed - they are the passion and love behind this breed, and we are part of their voice :)!

I think breeding is a very tough thing to do. I applaud every breeder that lovingly cares for the pups and is then able to allow us to adopt them to bring happiness and love into our homes. It is a very special gift that you have and that you share with us yorkie lovers. Thanks for all the hard work you do. Watching them leave must be heartwrenching for you, but I want you to know how much I appreciate you. :animal-pa

It sure is a lot of work, and people like you who recognize it ... well, that is the best reward!
the nights awake worrying about a deliver about to happen or just after that are the most stressful for me. I get exhausted ! But i never complain one little bit...
to hold those tiny babies in your hand and watch as each one blossoms, and the personalities ... it is so rewarding. Then it never ends... you find the very best homes, and you make so many great friends, they sort of become part of your family as well because they have possession of something that will belong to you forever !
It is all worth it !
But also it is not for everyone. but for those who put their hearts and do it for the love it is very rewarding after all .

Good luck with your 2 "teenagers" kkkk .....

As a new breeder myself, I have so much more respect for those who have done it for years. My mother-in-law raised and bred yorkies for years and I learned a lot of things from her.
As with my female's first litter, it has been an exhausting and rewarding and emotional ride (which is why I will probably breed again in around 2 years or so). But I feel I have been blessed with such a wonderful experience. I did so much research, then did some more!!! Then, when the time came, I still learned so much from the experience itself. You can do all the research, but until you experience, it's not the same.
I'm so thankful for my husband's and mother-in-law's guidance and support! :):aimeeyork And as of recently, everyone's support here after losing 1 of the 5 puppies from this litter. You all have helped me become a better breeder and owner!
I've had people ask me why I chose to breed my pets, and I reply, "to better the standards and the temperament of the breed. But it is also because I know there are so many people out there who love yorkshires (and animals in general) as much as I do and I want to spread the love.":)
