white patches on puppy = parti carrier? I have a question for anyone that is familiar with the parti yorkies. I figured this section would be the best place to post. :) I recently adopted a little boy from a shelter, so I know little to nothing about his past. He has these little white spots on his chest, neck, chin, and he even has white patches on his feet like he is wearing little booties on his back feet. :) Does this necessarily mean that he is a parti carrier or no? I did see his mother, and she has the normal yorkie coloring. Either way.. It doesn't really matter to me, but I am just curious because my first yorkie never had these spots. |
No it does not necessarily mean he's a carrier. You'll find more information regarding coats and coat color here. http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/gen...rt-thread.html |

No problem. :) |
If he came from a shelter he may not be a purebred. I have seen yorkie maltese crosses that look like a yorkie but have little white spots on them. |
If you really wanted to know you could do the DNA Breed Identification test or Mars test to find out. This puppy could be a splitter or a F1 from the Biewer world but who knows and you would only be guessing unless you tested your little one as a mixed breed...not as a purebred. So someone dropped off the mom and her pups at the shelter? |

I have heard varying opinons about those tests- are they accurate? I think it will probably be easier to tell whether or not he is a mixed breed when he ages. He is really fluffy so he kind of looks like a shih-tzu/yorkie mix or even maltese/yorkie. I suppose time will tell.. :) Here is a pic of Marshall and the other one is a shorkie puppy I found online.. I can see the resemblance. |
The tests are only good if they are a mixed breed....The companies that perform them say this on their websites. I think you can look at tons of pictures and see your cutie pie but still never really know. I know it is fun for you to try and figure out but it appears Daddy will be a mystery until you decide if you want to spend $$$ $50-$100 dollars to see. Heck Daddy could be a Samoyed...or any other white dog...haha..or a chinese creasted...the list could go on and on. No matter your little one is cute...:D |
