worming products I think I read on a thread here earlier about worming products that different breeders use on their puppies. Did someone say that you could Nemex at Petsmart or Petco? And is there somewhere else that you can get this if not at Petsmart or Petco? Also, should you worm all puppies, even if Mom doesn't have worms and we only have one other dog is the house? And we do have 2 cats. |
Hello I use Nemex 2 and I have not been able to find it locally, my petco does not carry it. I did find Evict at petco, I got it but I did not have to use it, I take a fecal sample to the vet to analize and unless is positive I do not deworm my pups. this litter is 6 weeks old and clean as a weasel.. so no deworming for us.. I use revival animal for most of my needs. is a great place to shop. www.revivalanimal.com hugs, CArmen in nj |
Thank you. I have gotten a few thing from revival. I will take a sample to the vet when the time comes and we will go from there. :) |
I deworm all the puppies at 3 weeks, 7 and 10 weeks anyways. I use Pyrantel . Then just before sending them home i use PANACUR-c for 3 or 5 days. We do fecal exams on the puppies, but since our dogs go outside , get monthly heartworm meds... we do all we are supposedly to do , still, every once in a great while i have people reporting a puppy tested positive for worms when they take it to their own vets. I have searched and talked to vets. i get the same answer... i have other dogs and they go to the dog park, beach ... pet store... I know some breeders only de-worm if they get positive fecal exams. I guess it is a personal decision. You need to think what could be best for you, your dogs, puppies and new parents. I also belive it will depend on your area. We have winter here, but i keep the same routine for the litters. XOXO |
I start deworming my pups at 2 weeks of age, and every two weeks until they are sold. I use Pyrantel. If I think that I have a problem with Cocci, I use the panicur for 3-5 days. Also it will get the tapes, hook, that the pyrantel won't touch. If your dogs are on the ground they can be exposed to these worms. |
