Weight My babies are 12 weeks old now and the girl weighs 2.2lbs one boy weighs 2.6 and the other 2.10. Does anyone know about how big they will get ? I'm thinking the girl maybe 4.5 and maybe 6 for one of the boys. I don't know. Can anyone make a good guess for me. |
My boy was 1lb 4 oz at 12 weeks and hes now 18 months and weighs 5lb 6oz. |
This is good, I was afraid my girl was going to be to small. I like the bigger ones, although i have two yorkies 2 lbs. I think they just happen every now and then in a litter. Gidget's sister is 5lbs and she is only 2lbs.Their mom is 5.5lbs and the dad is 4lbs so they probably want be bigger than 6lbs, which is a good healthy weight.Even 7 would be ok. |
Here is a link to a "growth chart". I found it pretty helpful, the pups have changed from one estimated adult size to another but you can watch this happen if you chart their weight. Mine were about the size of yours and I took this chart into Excel and extended it because some sizes are not on there. My pups are twelve weeks too. http://yorkiepassion.com/growthchart.htm |
Thanks Gingis mom, your baby is beautiful! |
I just checked it out and according to this my biggest boy will be 6 lb my next biggest 5.5 and my girl 4.5 or maybe 5. I hope 5. Good info. Thanks again.:) |
My babies are 3 weeks old tomorrow and the boy weighs...1lb 10 oz and my big girls weighs 1lb5oz and the smallest weighs...10oz....what do you think of this...do you think they will be monsters?? |
sounds like you may have a 4 lb and a couple of 7 lbs, maybe it is just baby fat from mommies milk. My babies where fatter when they where sucking their mommie, they have slimmed up a bit. I guess i'm reading this chart right. |
I have found the chart is not real reliable for my kids the first 4-6 weeks then it becomes far more accurate (once their weaned). There are so many factors at the younger age, size of the litter makes a big difference in the nursing stage. I was thinking about editing. What would be interesting if some of you breeders begin to chart your kids weight and send them to me after six weeks I will take the average and re-adjust it. I think that would be helpful for all. I can extend some weights if needed as well just let me know happy to help for all of us. |
I have found over the course of time that mine are tending to be a bit smaller than the chart, but it has enabled me to watch that. It has been a slow decline and as I said you can see them change and the trend if you are charting their weights. One of mine I thought at one point would be 6 1/2 to 7 lbs and it appears now that she will be around 5 1/2. I have watched all their weights. There are some weeks they don't gain and others they do gain quite a bit. My smallest pup has kept right with the chart.. she will most likely be 3 3/4 lbs which is the weight of the father. The rest were bigger. At the least it is fun to watch!! |
Toby went to the vet and at 10 1/2 weeks, he weighed 2.11#. How much do you all think he will weigh full grown? I cannot understand the chart LOL! |
here ya go 16 oz equals a pound 16 16 11 ___ 43 oz at 10.5 weeks |

14 months and 18.2 lbs. lol |
Poor Haylee is way off the chart. She is 4 pounds at 10 weeks. That is fine with me, more to love. Her ears are trying to stand now at least some of the time. She is changing so much every day. And her and Graff play all the time now. I sure never thought that would happen. But I am so very glad that it did. One will not eat without the other one eating at the same time. And most nights they sleep side by side. |
I think that sounds like a great idea. I will send you my next babies weight. Is there a scale you can buy to weigh them at home? I usually get them weighed at the vets when they get their tails cut and again at the worming and shots. Our vet has a puppy scale that is digital. It would be nice if we could purchase one. |
