false pregnancy Maggie started her heat on Sept. 2, and was not bred. She has a little milk in (can be expressed) and some clear discharge from her vulva. Poor dear. She is a little clingy but no other symptoms. Anyone with experience with this? |
My Ceci went thru this when her sister Angel was pregnant. It was sad because she wanted to get to take care of Angel's babies so bad. She even tried to nurse them and we had to take her to the vet and get anticotics. |
One of my girls had it. Pseudopregnancy! that is the name... she so badly loved to be a mom.after her first litter and she went in heat and acted weird without being matted... had bigger belly but not preggo belly, some secretions... then she got better... than, 2 months later she was in heat again... vet recommended us to wait until she was very stable to breed her again, i only breed every year or year and a half anyways... well, she had no heat for about 8 months! I feel like she wanted to be a mom again so badly ... we gave her a big break and lots of love and attention... Anyways, she had a successful litter after that, loved being a mom, and a normal heat ... and was happy to "get rid of the puppies" when their teeth began to bother her !!! she is a very happy well balanced dog now. never happened again and so far this was our only experience. Hummmm.... we never gave any medicines or anything like that during the pseudopregnancy , it resolved on its own overtime. XOXO |
My first yorkie girl had it bad. Just about 60 days after her heat she would nest and get stuffed animal and try to nurse them. It would last about a week. She stayed with them little toys nonstop. Then it just past. It was really sad to watch. I finally breed her and she had pups. I keep one of her girls and she is doing the same thing now. |
we never gave any medicines or anything like that during the pseudopregnancy , it resolved on its own overtime. DH let Ceci in the whelping box by mistake. Both girls look exactly alike. He called me at work and said Ceci (actually Angel) was acting strange and trying to get in with the pups. Ceci tried nursing and it caused her nipples to become infected that is why she needed the medicine. When I got home from work I knew right away that it was Ceci in with the pups. I felt so bad for her. Whenever Angel left the pups Ceci was right there to watch them. It is very strange but Ceci has never gone into heat. She and Angel are from the same litter. |
