Biewer Breeder Question I keep getting asked about the Biewers lightning up. The one I own did and I have been told that some do and some don't and that is what I have seen on other breeders websites. What are your experiences. If you had them lighten up then at what age did they begin to fade? |
Some do and some don't...my Molly and her son Tank were both light and they started at about 16 weeks...up until that time they were just as dark as the others. Biewers are funny though...they can lighten and darken again...what is light tan today might be gold again in a few weeks. I have been told their coats and colors can change until they are about 3 years old. My Maddie had 2 distinct black spots on her back when she was a puppy but now, at age 2, she is getting more color underneath and she may end up with a full black saddle before she is done as the white between her 2 big spots is filling in with black...same with her sister Megan. They are both full sisters from the same litter to my Molly but Megan and Maddie have stayed very dark black and gold with their white. |
My Ella hasn't really changed colors. She is chocolate thou so I don't know if that makes a difference. I have seen some regular biewers change. |

I would think that the Biewer would have the same breaking patterns like the yorkie does. Some yorkies break early and get lighter as they age and some break late and they retain the darker color. I believe it would just depend on the parentage and lines behind the dog. |

Agree and most do continue to change up to 3 years of age. |
Interesting, thank you! |
