Question For All U Breeders Hello I've been reading alot of breeding books and they all say let your female come in heat once before breeding her. What would happen if she got breed the first time in heat?????Thanks  |
Cycles I think it might have asid ..let her come into season twice and breed the second season. It depends on age, size and maturity. Less then a year and they are still pups and not always mature enough to care for a litter. There are exceptions to many rules..but when you start out too young you tend to wear the poor bitch out long before her breeding days are over. They lose teeth early and the uterus tends to become flabby..that can mean vet help..shots or sections. You will never regret waiting until the second season,. but stand a good chance of regretting a first season breeding at a young age. |

She is too young. Toy dogs take longer to mature. I wait till my Dams are atleast 20 - 24 months. They are mature, fully grown, and most problems will be apparent at this age. And most important is their health. The first season is around 7 mos, their still puppies. Let her mature, it'll be better for her health and the health of her future puppies. Good Luck :happyboun |

I cant remember what site off hand, but quite interesting. But I do agree the female still needs to be mature and ready to take on mother hood. :) :) :) |

I have never heard of the smaller the faster they mature. All the breeders I know, not just Yorkie breeders, Other Toy Dog Breeders. Have told me,plus all the research I did before I got involved in Breeding. That Toys ( all toy dogs) mature at between 18 & 24 months. If you find the site please display it, I'm curious as to what it says. |

I dont know how to hyper link it so heres the add. http://www.diamondsintheruff.com/dev...talstages.html go all the way down to where it says Maturity in the middle section. So did I read that right? Or have i misunderstood maturity in sex or what haha I still say I'd wait untill thay are more matured. :) :) :) :) :) |
Read it again it says 1 - 4 years. So there, first season is between 7 -9 months. We are both right. I'll PM this to you too, just encase you don't come back to this thread. |
