I'm so excited to announce that Maya will be having two babies sometime later this week. We're also very nervous too, as this is not only her first litter but ours as well. We've gotten some great advice either from you guys here on Yorkie talk, our stud's owner, our vet- it's been great! And we've learned so much, but I'm certain there will be so much more to learn. Wish us luck! And I've posted pictures of Maya's little belly, her x-ray (that confirmed the number of pups), and her new haircut. BTW, the veterinarian told us she had a pretty wide birth canal, so he wouldn't be surprised if she hadn't a problem delivering them easily. So, that's good news, but still I guess you never know...
I'll be posting pictures soon, hopefully....:)

The vet did have a concern about a little mass there at the bottom left of the x-ray (if that's where you're thinking you might be seeing another one), but he acted as though maybe she had ingested something she shouldn't have. He asked if she'd eaten any bones, but of course she has not, nor ever. I don't know what that could be, but he was certain it was not a puppy. They did take two different views, and both times just showed the two; I"m pretty sure he's right. Though, I would love to have three! ;) Wishful thinking...

She's doing great! I'm now checking her temperature 3 times daily. It's been 100.2-100.6, but the other night it dropped to 99.4 and went back up to 100.2 by the morning. Sooooo...now this morning when I checked it was back down to 99.4 again, I have yet to see what it'll be when I get home. With my luck, it'll pop back up to her normal again. But my boyfriend is with her today, keeping an eye on her every movement, lol. But so far, she hasn't shown any signs of her being in labor. But this is making me so tense, the waiting. Ahhhhh

I know I said this elsewhere but good luck and our thoughts and prayers are with you! And if you are takeing bets my money is on 3 pups!

Want to compare notes after all this is over? If I last that is...:D

Haha, sure! :) And though I'm not taking bets lol, I'd be very surprised indeed to see three puppies.

So this afternoon, Maya's temperature was down at it's lowest yet. At 98.9. So, maybe later on today??? OOOOH, this is so exciting. I have yet to see any signs other than that, that a whelp is imminent within the next 24 hours. Still just playing the waiting game...:D

Well, I'd like to think she's getting ready for delivery, but I'm not totally sure. She's breathing much faster than normal, panting every so often, awfully clingy, as well. It seems as though the puppies are lower in the belly too, is that something that normally happens during "pre" labor? I haven't seen any nesting behaviors, or I would say she's about to whelp. Soooo, we're still just waiting over here, wondering when this show will get on the road. :) Here are some pictures I just took that I thought were cute! She thought my boyfriend had come home and was excited when I took these (well two of the pictures anyhow).

All the best to Maya and you. Tiff delivered tonight and we are all done for the night. Around 5pm Tiff just started acting different. I took her straight upsters to our quiet area. With in 20 minutes she was growling and seriously rearranging the bed. 10 min after that. the first heavy contraction hit. It took about an hour and a half and you could see the travelling the birth canal between the anus and the vaginal opening. Each push after that brought the pup closer. Once the pup was crowning it was one big push and out she came! The sack she was in is very tough and it took tiff awhile to open it up. We were worried because we didnt know what to expect or how long we had before we had to intervene. But Tiff did great! The rest of the pups came very fast so dont go far after the first! There was a break between pups but the deliveries were VERY fast for the last 2. The last was complicated and we were very worried for a bit. but all are doing well and sleeping right now!Good luck and all the best in the hours to come!

We're still waiting, lol. Her temp. is very low this morning, maybe too low??? Anyhoos, I'm so excited for you, and thanks so much for the advice and help. It's been so much fun keeping updated on your momma and puppies. It'll be fun while our pups grow up too, seeing how big they're getting, etc. :) You better post pictures as soon as Tiff lets you, lol. :)
