I always do a contract even with friends. I give partical refunds depending on a lot of things. What shape is the puppy in? Is the puppy now afraid of men? Because the puppy is older is it going to be harder to re-home? I would say tell her based on what you sell the puppy for you will give a partical refund after evaulating the condition of the puppy. |
She's a friend and just return the money and walk away with a lesson learned. Bottom line she did do the right thing, she can't help that her husband is an A HOLE :D If you value the friendship and her just work it out. Things like this can turn out to be so bad, just be the bigger person and look the other way and never ever sell her another puppy. Good luck with whatever you decide. |
A sister in the same family is taking the puppy and I totally approve of the new sitaution it will be great home for the puppy. |
glad it worked out |

This sounds very reasonable. But, just because you have no written contract, you may have had a verbal one - but they are the most difficult to enforce. You should not be expected to return more than you can recover in expenses and the resale/rehoming of the pup. So glad it is working out, though. |
Even friends should sign contracts, it maintains the friendship. I find the situation amazing that the husband insisted on the return of the puppy but I always accept a dog of mine if any one ever wants to return one. |
